Well, the settings are adjustable. You're free to tune it to a setting that fits your vision of realism. It's not easy to find a perfect middlepoint; because the only way to evaluate impact force in UE is to use the speed at collision time, which is really not accurate to determine how much force the object really received; on top of that, EU's physics run at a separate speed than the rest of the game and will behave differently based on FPS. While there are some ways to alleviate the negative effects of this, it means that overall finding an accurate sweet spot that will behave realistically on all computer is a difficult task! I'm thinking of better ways to calculate collision force, but now you know why it's like that. :)
