The grain orientation on the writing surfaces worked out so nicely! Also the information about the draw bore wasn’t something I had heard before. Thank you for the video 😊

Gillis good to see you back! Splendid work on a very unique desk. You should be proud of your skills. For most such work is.....well, too much work when power tools are easier no? We get out what we put in. Well done indeed.

Beautiful work, dude! Nicely done! 😃 Next time you get a crooked board like that try to wet it with hot water and clamp it down straight. Leave it for a few days and see what happens. We recently installed a new window here at home and half of it was crooked... It solved the issue and it didn't warped again. 😊 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Thank you! Very interesting technique, will have to try that sometime! Sort of like steam bending, but flattening instead.

hi Gillis, love your work. I was wondering what kind of glue you are using?
@GillisBjork3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! In this build I'm using polyurethane glue, mostly because my regular wood glue froze during the winter and I haven't been bothered to pick up more since I have the PU glue...

I enjoy these videos immensly! Just wondering; This table has a lot of very sharp 90° points. Not long ago I passed a lamp fixture at work that had a sharp corner that ripped my sweater, and I still have a scar after ramming my head into a table corner. I find your table estatically pleasing, I'd hate for the design to be compromised, but are you going to keep all these points as sharp? I understand this piece is going to be used, and not fenced in as a piece of art (which it is, too)?

Hmm, I wrote a reply but now it's gone, maybe I accidentally deleted it. Sorry! It's a very good point. I like the look of sharp corners a lot, but as you say, it's going to be used, so keeping them super sharp is not practical. I rounded them a little after this glueup, hopefully enough to prevent injuries!

Great work Gillis, congratulations! Off-topic: I want to complete my set of chisels with some short butt chisels and i'm balancing between Narex and MHG butt chisels. I didn't find any reviews beside promotional materials on neither of them. In one hand, i like the shape of the handles better on Narex, but the metal seems to be harder on MHG ones (59 RHC vs 61 RHC). The quality of the metal is the main criterion. I've noticed some MHG chisels in Your tool collection so i'm wondering: could You please make a sort of review or, at least express Your toughts on MHG chisels - how they hold the edge and so on. Thank You in advance!

Thank you! I don't have enough experience with different brands to do a decent review, but I really like them. The handle shape is imo too fat, but the steel is pleasant to sharpen on waterstones and holds the edge very well. I intend to carve the handles into a better shape eventually.

As I literally just finished putting 42" breadboards on a tabletop, I feel like a total idiot not making round pins how you did. Well played good sir
