For some reason, hundreds of people sent me messages insisting that it's impossible to perform a jaw crank or a neck crank from a standing position. Surprise! It's totally possible! Welcome to the wonderful world of catch as catch as catch can neck and spinal locks, holds, and stretches (aka: how to snap necks) including the deadly grovit ( a neck breaking technique) as I learned it from the late, great Billy Robinson.

I have to say as someone who has never been in a fight that I like to learn about fighting. I don't know what I would actually do in a fight, but I would like to think that something will come to mind. It is good to know what things could work and what doesn't. I love how coach poses a question about if and how something may work, and then proceeds to try a bunch of things out and see how it works.

Commenting on a old video I know. Thanks for covering the Groffit. My coach taught me to run my blade down the cheekbone to turn the head, and then to roll that blade up for submission. Love the variations and posture breaks shown here. I feel oddly nostalgic seeing this. Appreciate this a lot coach.

Put an overhook and pull down breaking structure before you are cranked or choked, underhook and prevent the crank or choke, move out or something! You do have to train this and attempt it on a resisting opponent to learn it really. This is not what is shown but I suppose we might see mr Dewey live wrestling with this soon? :)

I'm not taking any side, but there is something wrong with this demo. Neil is only tucking his head but not resisting at all. His body is completely numb and not in a more powerful position like when you're doing situps or kinda bend over. That part where you lift his head easily through his nose made me shake my head. I respect your knowledge, but this demo doesn't completely prove you're right since Neil gave up too easily with his bad body posture. I would love to see another demo with Neil resisting as if he was doing a situp against your first 4 locks, just like Wong was bending over in his video. No, I'm not a Mr. Wong fan, and I'm not trying to defend him, I just want to see the result against a better resistance. Peace.

Of course you can put major strain on your neck muscles and prevent it that way if you're strong, but you will get sore muscles tomorrow. Potentially get damaged cervical spine. Totally no fun. It is extremely hard to try to stop it too. You have no leverage to pull, no leverage to push against your own head (free arm can only use few muscles). If you pull on the arm you're actually tightening the crank. The only instant hope is that your opponent is dumb and does not tuck their own head in so you can counter crank. Now, putting one of those on is a different matter altogether. That's hard against anyone who knows what they're doing. So you wouldn't see any neck crank if Nils was resisting. Well, they can happen, rarely, especially on the ground when movement is constrained.

I have a question... Submissions from clinch. It seems to be a rather uncommon thing, and rarely is it done with anything complex. Most attempts at complex grappling in the clinch lead to the ground. Recently though, I've been thinking about what the options for that would be and whether or not it would be realistic to train specifically for standing clinch submissions. I also got an ankle lock a little while ago with my feet, and then later did one with one foot, and was trying to figure out if that would open any possibilities standing up. The one foot ankle lock only worked because my opponent had no clue what they were doing, but I think the two foot one works just fine(it was against a different opponent.) So, are clinch submissions realistic, and if so, could you give some examples?

Yeah, that happens, just not very common in sportive fighting. Probably because both guys are well versed and the makes it difficult to finish it standing. But there are some great examples like Jon Jones choking Lyoto Machida while standing and Sakuraba breaking Renzos shoulder also standing. Also my coach has put guys to sleep with a standing ezekiel against the wall

Standing guillotine? if done well its the number one go to because noobs lean forward a lot like me!! then I learned that shit real quick my neck got sore. keep head and neck in line with the spine like for a blast double. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3OcdaqQfMZjopo The front choke. Where the forearm comes up into the throat at the same time the hand on the back of head pulls it down. Should look like two arrows in a circle. choking arm curves under and up into their neck. top hand curves down hard on the back of their head (not the base but top of the back, more torque on the neck). caught me a lot too. power choke it is in the video.

Learn the ankle pick, you can do it from front headlock (which is similar to a guillotine and can be done as a standing submission in itself) When you hold on to the ankle after the takedown you can hold an ankle lock The same can happen for a treetop takedown

@@tubeaddict871 You must either be trolling or are a dedicated fan of Master Wong, because I have seen you comment in excess on these videos leaving uninformed/insulting remarks. Still, even you must realise that escaping from a properly executed RNC whether on the ground or standing up is most likely impossible. In the first video that Ramsey did about RNCs, you can see how a standing one-armed RNC performed by Jourdan becomes inescapable. In that video various standing chokes were performed with resistance and full contact, so if you are looking for that go check it out. Furthermore, Nills in this video has no options to escape once the choke is applied. Even if Nills took Ramsey's left arm then Ramsey would just finish the choke by, for example, using his own head for leverage. Simply put rear naked chokes are dangerous, tucking your chin in doesn't improve your situation, and struggling after it has been applied properly is useless. Moreover, using strikes in a grappling situation is ineffective, and in a real fight you'll be unconscious/dead before you land a good hit. Look at McGregor vs Khabib, why didn't McGregor start throwing punches when he was put in the neck crank? Because he knew that it wouldn't be effective, and that he had already given Khabib his back.

@@tubeaddict871 So you agree that McGregor was in no position to be throwing punches? Do you also agree that he had given his back to Khabib and was outgrappled? That is the key word here "grapple". Throwing punches in a grappling situation is not an option. I don't see how I am wrong to point that out. As a matter of fact you proved yourself wrong with your last comment. Though, I will agree with you that we shouldn't be debating these topics on the internet, instead we should get out there and train. However, this immediately applies to you as well, given the amount of inexperienced remarks that you leave on these videos it might be time to practice what you preach. On a different note, you didn't even respond to the other points that I made which are far more relevant for Ramsey's videos. The fact that non of the RNC's applied in Ramsey's videos - be it on the ground or standing up - were countered by punches and low blows, I'd say that there is no point in denying that tucking your chin in, eye raking, shots to the groin; and other striking moves are useless attempts to escape RNCs.

Head down and shoulders up will buy you some time, but very little, and there are so many variations from a choke to a crank or using forearm to crush the windpipe, I think its best to know a couple of technical escapes and they don't work to stop the lock from being fully applied go for the panic hit, crush and twist to the nuts, do not try going for the eye if someone has you in a rear choke you will not have the range of motion needed, not a fan of the escape master wong demos, sorry this is a bit rambling

Neck cranks are nasty. And can really damage someone in a fight. Much better to put them to sleep.

Hey Remsey, since I do not know where should I send you my question I put it here in the comment section, hopefully I will get my answer from you. So, to begin with, I have hip joint necrosis, it is leg injury limiting the stuff I can do using my leg... But still I used to spend 2 years in boxing club and I was in fact good, not as good as I wanted to be but basicly I could use boxing to defend myself. Of course my leg causes me trouble in the ring if we are there for more time or while running, but the pain fades shortly after. Unfortunately I spent the last year doing nothing as sport but studying and now since I am in University I have some time to spend in sports and I think to do some muay thai, here comes my question, considering my leg injury am I fit to the muay thai where I have to use my legs as weapons? Thanks in advance.

I swear I was just asking someone if this was possible he hasn't been training all that long so he didn't have an answer. I wish I had the extra time and money to start full time BJJ. December we test some of the junior belts at our Kyokushin club so I get asked to help with extra training. I need to better organize my life and time LOL Either way good stuff Thanks! Keep on keeping sir Osu!

First rule you learn as a fighter is to keep your hands up. You can easily defend against strikes and locks with hands up. No point trying anything Wu Shu style or fancy style. Low posture, hands up, evade if possible and put distance berween you and your target.

The best way to get someone to turn there head is to crossface them over with a fist starting with the first two knucles and then punching through once the head is turned think of your cutting bone as a blade that saw's his face in half then get your facelock.

This is a reply to Master Wong's reply to you, isn't it? He was pointing out how much time chin protection buys you in a street fight, this negates that. Very coincidental timing.
@RamseyDewey

Nope. It’s a reply to about 100 angry, I’ll informed people in the comments section of my last video about finishing the rear naked choke when the chin is tucked. They all insisted that it’s physically impossible to perform jaw and neck cranks standing up. I wonder where they got that idea from?
@MohseenLala
@MohseenLala 5 жыл бұрын
They should talk to Khabib about finishing chokes on tucked chins. I definitely didn't get the idea from Wong's video where he says chokes will be delayed if the chin is down. Definitely not. No sir, I say.

How about standing up grappling submission attempts? Not from behind the opponent but a nice neck crank from the front position where Billy Robinson made it look like a secret weapon.

from the video description: "For some reason, hundreds of people sent me messages insisting that it's impossible to perform a jaw crank or a neck crank from a standing position. Surprise! It's totally possible! Welcome to the wonderful world of catch as catch as catch can neck and spinal locks, holds, and stretches (aka: how to snap necks) including the deadly grovit ( a neck breaking technique) as I learned it from the late, great Billy Robinson." Watch the video and you'll learn all about the grovit (neck breaking technique from the front)

@@RamseyDewey ohh nice I didn't read the description. Just skipped to the rear naked part and decided to post about Billy. Incorporating a circle motion as you crank will help control the opponent even more leaving opportunity to find a weak spot in their base or technique. Good info.

@@RamseyDewey also... Where does the cross face come into play? Standing cross face illegal if you just use the hand to push against nose ? Is standing cross face legal is basically what I'm asking. Or would it be considered a punch ? And I mean use it as a mere second to throw the opponent off or get them to turn their head slightly making them off balance? I mean I know that if this was street fight I would just go for the ultimate groin grab eye poke technique.

there are tons in jujutsu...a variety of arm bars, shoulder locks etc. Not sure how well they'll work in full contact though. some techniques off the top of my head are timbin nage (really more of a throw, but can be used as a sub), hiji kudaki, ude garami, gyaku ude garami (those last two were shown in this video), yuki chigai, kata ha gaeshi, waki gatame hiki tate, kannuki hiki tate.
