I run a resumé biz and work in consulting sector - this is mostly generic advice - but nowadays if you send online applications unless you’re in some niche or speciality it’s hard to break through all the applications and ATS systems. To offset that, make sure you apply when the position is listed, even a couple of days later means your resume might not even be looked at as they’ve received literally hundreds - make sure your resumé has highly searched keywords and skills for ATS compatibility; make sure the content & structure is optimized and design and format is minimal and to the point. If it’s all about style and no substance that is not going to help. And remember as you progress through your career, it’s not what you know but who you know.

Alot of resume sorting work is done by a computer nowadays. It's more important than ever to optimize your resume to beat the resume algorithm and get it seen by human eyes.

Really good point! Why does everything have to be about the algorithm... 🙃

I'm in tech consulting and I really echo the importance of building a strong network and big circle. Connections are so helpful to land an interview and get the job in the first place, but also important while you're actually working on different projects! Those case interviews are definitely stress-inducing though so I'm glad those are behind me hahaha you have a new sub!

I just saw your video with Millenial Money yesterday and today on kchoi's channel (what a surprise). Gonna subscribe now. Hope your KZbin channel grows fast and big! I am so happy to see content of people with regular careers (and the careers similar to mine) rather than of those who have KZbin content creation as their main profession. Find the former more relatable and engaging.

In the UK personal connections doesn't really help except as Steph mentioned, getting your CV screened. Feel that personal connections to straight to the job just isn't allowed anymore! Great video 🙌🏽👍🏽

What are some channels like this? I’ve been looking but I can’t find any.

It depends what field you're in, if you like channels about consulting I watch: Steph+Den, Primal Career, Natalie Barbu's old vids on consulting, she recently started her own consulting business. They're all 20 something youtubers who have worked in consulting and give really good advice. The Come Up is also a great channel (software eng, not consulting, but still good vids). I find Kristina's vids to be a real gem though, there's something about her channel that I really like.
