i recently discovered this movie, but had trouble putting the sequences in order. But if this was the last part of the story, i would love this as an ending. That gentle hand reaching out. the walking toward the sea and the beautiful way the two intensified their grip on each other's hand. I have watched segments of this film several times, and each time i am able to understand the interconnections better. And i like this film even more.

@@hamilton7798 No there is another version where he is gay bashed and murdered on the way to the bar to meet Romeo. They edited that out here. Many were upset about the tragic ending. I could related to them, but also see the way it fit in with the story from early on. This is a masterpiece, IMO. Romeo has changed, and is surely broken with the news of his death. Although the movie doesn't show that far into the future, I don't see Romeo marrying that woman to appease his family. I don't think he commits suicide like in Romeo & Juliette, but he has certainly evolved.

No it wasn't. Its so sad. They love each other but didn't end up together. The white guy was killed, his lover went to see him or protest his love but missed him before he was killed. The beach scene is Dre returning to a happy moment to live forever after he died. Its such a good movie, try and find it. Its called Children of God.

I don't object to two individuals making decisions about their lives and how they want to live when it is not hurting anyone, but interracial relationships cannot be equal when white people still have power in society, Relatioships are no better than the society in which we live. We should not condemn or judge anyone for thier persoanl relationships choices, but we also should not lose sight of reality. which in the long run does not serve the interest of anyone.
