Agreed! Love how you put this - "captures both the complexities and the heart of these families, their needs and the organizations working to support them" It's complex work for sure. But that's life! Complex, messy, and beautiful all at once.

This is such a great educational piece about the foster care system. Learning more about why kids enter foster care not only breaks down stereotypes and misconceptions related to foster care but can also lead in the direction of preventing entry in the first place--and breaking the cycle. Relationships truly are the key to overcoming hardships and also trauma. Well done!

Agreed!!! There's such a misconception about foster care. It starts with strengthening the family unit! That's what we aim to do at CarePortal :)

This video made me realize how important it is for kids in foster care to have people in their lives who really care about them. I think this video is right. The key to change anything is innovation and relationships. I really liked how the organization focused on building real relationships with these kids, making sure they know they’re not alone and that there’s someone cheering them on. It’s not just about support-it’s about showing up, believing in them, and treating them like family. Pretty cool.

This video really opens your eyes to the struggles kids face in the foster care system. It's tough to see how many are let down by a system that’s meant to protect them. There’s so much more that needs to change to make sure they get the care and support they deserve. Thanks for sharing this and bringing more awareness to such an important issue.

so well said. the system meant to protect them. There's so many layers to it. Wrapping around our own community and helping where we can is one thing we can all do.

This is so powerful. Relational permanence makes such a huge difference - whether it is at the top of the funnel, where families have a right to keep their children in their own care, or it is in the middle of the funnel where kids are in temporary care and need to be supported and cared for. The furthest along part of the funnel is where it's most challenging because these are kids in long term care, and that usually means changing homes frequently. But with consistent and intentional support to the youth and the caregiver family, we can change the stats. Thank you to all the organizations that are working tirelessly towards a better future for those experiencing foster care.

Thank you for shining a light on the challenges of our child welfare system and highlighting organizations like National Angels that are working to turn the tide. The statistics you shared are true and heartbreaking-what’s inspiring though is the belief that this crisis is solvable. At National Angels, we know that lasting progress comes from empowering individuals and families-not just through systemic reforms, but by ensuring every person is seen, valued, empowered and supported. Together, through partnerships like these, we can build a society where every child has the opportunity to realize their potential and every family is equipped with the support they need to thrive. Let’s keep amplifying these bottom-up solutions and challenging the status quo to create a brighter future for everyone. Also shout out to the Family Justice Law Center and Care Portal teams! It is amazing to be highlighted alongside you both! --Susan Ramirez, Founder & CEO of National Angels.
