That's the thing about racial categories, they're usually founded on convenience not actual logic. If North Africa and the Middle East were Christian, they would be considered white...because they are. From a human genetics standpoint, Europe, the Iranian world, and the Semitic world are all closer to each other than they are to East Asia, but many East Asians are closer in skin color to Europeans than Europeans are to Arabs. Yeah the forced laughter is killing the vibe when his jokes are really well put together. It seemed a bit too fast for the audience to keep up though. He was into his next joke before the other one set in, this could just be limited stage time though. Would be better to see a longer show.
