Hindsight is a wonderful thing. On the day the general view was that the form couldn't be up to much if a French no-hoper came home in front. In fact, in was the best 3yo race run anywhere in the world in 2009. The first four hope went on to win G1s, and the "flop" St Nicholas Abbey actually ran a blinder to finish so close behind world-class specialist milers. The time was a full second faster than Frankel ran on the same going in the 2010 renewal.
