I’ve been saying pretty much that same thing! Make Supercross 125 and 250 two strokes and make outdoors 250 and 450 four strokes. Mix it up! These guys are athletes and can adapt to both bikes! Make the Supercross tracks two stroke friendly. I’d love to smell that premix gas again!

Taking the 250 to the 450 is going to be much harder the 450 so much more powerful & the class of riders is so much higher In the end this is why I wish the US would let the 250 2-stroke race against the 250 4-stroke at the very least outdoors like Canada & Australia was allowing

I'm not sure 250 in the 450 is harder. Power-wise, a 250 two smoke is closer to a 450 than a 125 is to a 250 four stroke. You're right about 450 riders being a whole new level though.

The 250 in the 450 class will be more competitive than the 125 in the 250 class on pure lap time, there's not much difference in lap time (at the front) between the 250s and the 450s, they run the same rhythms almost everywhere nowdays. The depth of the 450 class will make things harder for him, and he won't have an answer when someone puts a block pass on him, but if he's got the lap time in him, he'll make a main, straight from the heat race (LCQ's will be a harder proposition than going straight through from a heat race I reckon.)

Thanks Stank Dog! I guess there are still a lot of old farts like me out there who love seeing a 2 stroke on track. Plus it seems a lot of American race fans love pulling the under dog. If 4 strokes are so great, why not even up the CC's for the 2 strokes vs. 4 stoke? Or at least some more CC's for the 2 strokes. I know KTM has a 150 2 stroke that may even the odds a little in the 250 class and a 175 2 stroke sounds even better. How about letting 300cc 2 stroke in the 450 class?

Back in the dark ages they made a horrible rule saying double cc 4t can run with any standard size 2t. Because this rule was not modified and pulled back in cc when modern technology started allowing the 4t's to rev at almost double the RPM of the 2t's, the rule basically destroyed the 2 stroke as a closed course race bike. the 4t's just took over. Had all us old timers pushed for a rule change before the YZF400 came out, we would see maybe 375cc max 4 strokes out there racing along with our beloved 250 cc 2 strokes to this day. But we missed that boat and now... oh well.

And BTW... to us engineering minded type guys.. we always knew this was going to happen eventually. it was obviously such an old rule from back when they could not think outside their archaic box as to how things would change, that it was never going to be fair in later years. Once big bore 4 stroke street bikes started revving past 10,000 RPM in the late 90's, we all knew 4 strokes could never be the same. That's when we should have pushed for the rule change.

Dog is definitely a talented rider. Look I'm a 2t guy, that's what I ride... But I just don't get the "why". Especially considering the expense and work it takes to race at that level. The risk of injury seems much higher... I mean, you have to be worried about getting jumped on because you have to short jump sections. And to ride around in the back of the pack the whole race, that's if you even qualify. It doesn't make sense to me if you could place in the top 10 or 20 on a 4t. Which I think Dog could riding a competitive 4t bike. I just don't get it. But I guess to each his own!

Glad I got the backstory on this. I couldn’t understand why Stank reacted in the way that he did after the clips I saw from Polk. Honestly I thought he needed some help. Steve is a giant asshole for sure, but I didn’t think on this one he and Kiefer deserved that. Now I see with eyes wide open! It’s been a build up with Steve talking trash over the years. I think Stank nailed it when he said Polks show is getting long in the tooth, and now you have other shows coming up like gypsy tales and such. Steve feels threatened, and has major control issues the way I see it. I think he is still reeling with grief over being let go as a mechanic. My opinion only.. Mathis definitely knows his shit,, he just has an asshole’ee way of conducting himself, it puts people off. Anyway, glad it’s squashed. Now we can get back to hearing that beautiful sound of a two stroke singing,,, and more importantly Stank Dog sending that machine into the Mains! Good luck to you friend!
