I saw Stanley open for Kenny G in Tucson over 25 years ago and loved it so much, I left when he left. Who wants to see Kenny G after a true artist leaves the stage? I'd love to see him play live again. I'm in FL, book a date!!

gimmedap, Kenny G, a lot of his tracks sounded the same. just like Bruce Hornsby, and the range.

The guitar is truly the most amazing instrument of them all and if it wasn’t for KZbin I wouldn’t get to see 99.9% of it. This guy is so far beyond a guitar player, he is the guitar, I think the guitar is playing him.

just pure..Stanley is just one of those people that the music flows thru.

With the current wave of brilliant hammer playing guitarists we tend to forget that long before them there were guitarists pioneering this field. What a Wonderful recording and playing.
@olddoggeleventy27186 жыл бұрын
He's definitely got the strength in those hands and the talent, the brain to put all those scales and riffs together, the musical training and dues paying and finally a guitar tech that can set the action and set the fret wire just right on his guitar so it doesn't buzz. It takes a bit of finesse to do the tap thing even marginally well. Mr. Jordon is beyond.......

I saw you last night, Mr Jordan, and your gorgeous daughter, Julia, MusicMommy, and it was the BEST birthday present I've received in a very long time. I got to meet you both afterwards and shared that as a yoga teacher and artist I play your music for my students to keep the energy of creativity high. Thank you for your contribution to my world. My friend and I gave our card to Julia. I can't wait to see you both again.

He's obviously not here for a fashion show and I am so glad for that. What a gift this man has. I saw him live a few years back at the Coach house in San Juan Capistrano. I sat in awe for the whole 3 hours that he played and was pretty sure I didn't breath that whole time. We are blessed to have him!

It's ridiculous that so many people are focused on the way he looks. It's sad how shallow some people can be. Stunningly amazing performance.

Yes, but i think, he looks nice!
@origami_dream6 ай бұрын
I read all the comments on this video. Out of 242 comments, 9 were even about his looks, only 5 were negative. And of those 5, 3 still praised his playing, showing it wasn't their only area of focus. So i think it's fair to say that "so many people" are not, in fact, focused on the way he looks.
@Shuffit5 ай бұрын
@@origami_dream The thing is that this opinion wasn’t formed off this video alone. When I see his stuff on Facebook it’s full of shallow comments on his appearance.
@origami_dream5 ай бұрын
@@Shuffit Okay but based on this video, i'm not seeing it to a noticeable degree. Like i'm not even hating on you or anything. Said people can indeed go to hell. I just... think maybe you're seeing them disproportionate to their actual presence. Maybe just chill and not care so much? There will always be some idiots around, and i super get letting them get to you, but... just try not to. The hate always comes through louder. It's how we're wired. I think you're seeing it as bigger than it's actually there. Reality's less bleak, in at least this case, than you're letting it seem.
@Shuffit5 ай бұрын
@@origami_dream uh, no offense but don’t tell me what my reality is. I’m not the one that read 200+ comments. I think you’re taking this a lot more seriously than I am. No offense. Just can’t really wrap my head around what your issue is here.

A realy great guitarist. 30 years ago i saw him in a tv show with open mouth. He is great and set new levels. Sad only few people know how revolutionary his guitar style was. Two left hand is stanley jordan...
@musescoresongbook92455 жыл бұрын
I saw him in 1986 or 1987. He's still off in his own fascinating orbit--the revolution never came, even within the narrow confines of jazz. Emmett Chapman's revolution, I suppose it really was, led to Stanley and a few others, but it's remained a pretty small niche in the guitar world. Here's Chapman in the mid-1970s. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHjGp3udjdman7s

Way late to the thread, but about 1984 he was on Carson. Johnny's show was still pretty much "must see" at that time. The next day everyone was like "DID YOU SEE CARSON LAST NIGHT???!!!". We did. Wow! Blessings to Blue Note records for launching him, and Bobby McFerrin, among others.

I had his first album in 86 while in USAF. I believe he lead and influence the beginning of acoustic finger-style to today's rhythm drumming on the guitar! Guitarist started exploring all types of different ways to play the guitar that was different from standard methods that were taught! Its so amazing the influence of the 80;s blues and neo classical players and others like Stanly had on todays guitarist many who started as kids and play guitar like they are breathing!

Fantastic. Jordan is super gifted. Perhaps unmatched, despite those young upstarts like Eric Mongrain, Andy McKee or Macyn Taylor. Over 30 years ago, Stanley Jordan set a new standard few have been able to touch. Though Macyn Taylor looks to knocking on that door, as she is only 21(?)
