Excellent video! I greatly enjoyed being along for the ride! Just a correction though. Assuming that it has the 4 1/2" (115.38 mm) bore by 6 1/2" (166.7 mm) stroke engine, running at 60% cutoff with 10% clearance and a "card factor" of 75%, wiith 400 psi or 26.6 bar the engine would be producing just over 1,500 ft lbs of torque or a bit over 2,000 nm. At full boiler pressure(pushing it hard! ) it would be producing a bit over 3,000 nm. What a BEAST!!! Again, THANKS! Caleb Ramsby

Probably one of the best videos on youtube! :D I'm a mechanical engineering student and for one of the projects at school we're researching the possibility of applying modernized steam systems as a means of propulsion for small lightweight cars & trucks.

Now that's the most romantic and adorable car I've ever seen, Wonderful. The sound, the speed and the appearance are absolutely stunning! I've seen the clip so many times now, but I still love it. Thank you very much for posting. Wim van Prooijen, Netherlands

These are not combustion gases, these are water vapor clouds.

It was supposed to be fast. It could reach speeds of up to 200km/h.

rock3cat Check out Cyclone Power. Harry is hard at work developing a modern steamer. But if you really wont to contribute to modern steam engine development, you should work on developing an instramented enging that can be configured to have diferent or varing clearance. etc. And colect detailed data. Nice car there crossdogfly. Looks like a lot of fun. steamerandy

You had steam ,gasoline and Electric back in the day you could choose from, with steam all you needed was water and a heat source the other two the energy can be controlled by assholes

The Stanley Co. promised that if you could drive one of their cars with an open throttle for 5 minutes, they would GIVE you the car!
