I find it genuinely fascinating that even though BO4 gives you literally nothing for completing its Easter eggs besides an end cutscene and a one-time achievement, compared to every other game which does actually give you things, I find them the most gratifying to complete by a long shot. Just goes to show how much more important good quest design is compared to rewards. Due to their hidden nature, most of the community will never learn, try, or care about the eggs, and no amount of rewards really changes that unless you hamper your quest design to cater that.

The gratification of beating the bo4 ee’s was definitely the reward because they are HARD. It genuinely took me literaly years to beat BOTD, I got no rewards but couldn’t have been happier

Totally agree, I feel like the more we’ve gotten rewards, the psychological effect is that we get less intrinsic satisfaction out of just feeling accomplished that we did something cool The 3rd EE ever gave you a Perkaholic so this isn’t really an old vs. new thing, but you’re totally right that BO4 was the peak where I truly feel the most like I’m just doing the eggs for the sake of them, I don’t get anything out of it other than the experience of having done it, but I love that so much and I keep doing them BECAUSE of that feeling

Probably my favorite easter egg reward is Gröesten Haus from WWII. A bonus map being tied behind completing an easter egg is a really cool idea. Probably wouldn't be so good if it was tied to a map like Revelations or Radioactive Thing where the eggs are extremely difficult. But for a more casual egg like The Final Reich, that's like the perfect reward. Great video as always!

It's a great map but there's the huge con of matchmaking being dead since lots of casuals haven't done the Final Reich. Should've been a campaign reward in all honesty similar to Five in Black Ops.

Directors cut in Infinite Warfare has to be the best of the EE rewards. It felt similar to whenever you 100% a game like Goldeneye where you unlock cheats. Easter Egg rewards nowadays don't even compare in difficulty as you can walk a terrible player through the main quests easily, unlike maps such as Shang, Die Rise, or Origins. Pretty sure the early access calling card for Citadelle De Mors was attainable while director mode was released too so the rewards feel like they also have less meaning.

Citadelle was because a lot of the steps were too buggy during the early window. I wish they didn’t but I can understand and appreciate why. Though I’m pretty sure that directed didn’t give the calling card

Not entirely obvious to trigger the time loop because you have to interact with the last radio that falls down the pap stairs in order to start the time loop. Any sane person would probably ignore that radio and quit the match after the 1st completion.

IW BEST rewards. Willard Wyler/Paul Reubins as a character with secret dialogue. A fun final boss battle that challenges you. A pretty good animated camo and some of the better Animated calling cards in that game.

I version of what iw did is what could make this game be one of the best, instead of directors cut for completing all the eggs I would like to see a hard version of all the eggs as a reward (what that looks like I am unsure) and upon completing all hard eggs then grant the player a form of directors cut for completing the eggs on hard mode. I found doing all the eggs in dc made sense in iw since the game by itself is hard but bo6 could really use a hard mode to increase the difficulty some players would like

The ray gun skin and operator skins for Maya and Weaver are only earned for completing the 3 main quests on standard mode. There’s actually another set of rewards if you complete those main quests on directed mode.

Something I wish they would've done for Cold War and BO6 is to still have Loadouts, but you unlock the ability to use them on a map by completing it's Easter Egg, This would've satisfied both Starting Pistol lovers, and those that just want to start the match with whichever Weapon they feel like. This also probably would increase Easter Egg Completions(at least for the Launch Maps), because the Camo Grinders, and Warzone Players would still want their faster way to level up/unlock Weapons and attachments, but they'd first have to actually do at least 1 Main Easter Egg to be able to do it. Stuff like an additional Tier of Armor would be cool as well and/or the ability to hold more plates. Just some small things that don't break the balancing.

I agree with all your points (of course), and do hope we get the true Treyarch super EE we’ve all been waiting for! 2 small notes (don’t know if these would’ve counted): - Finishing the souls at the last step of Origins removes the falling walls, making this an excellent training area, especially for Bo3 - Bo4 free doors!

Technically I’d say the boss fight room in zns is a pretty darn good reward as it’s the best camping spot and gorod also rewards you by stopping the dragons from breathing fire all across the map

The biggest thing that always stopped me from doing any Easter eggs or PaP is that you always needed a guide to do them. It got really annoying having to keep looking at the video or website to do the steps. So I have completed a lot more of BO6 quests even though it's not really Easter eggs in directed mode. I do hope they carry forward directed mode to future cod games and if they do a zombies Conicals 2 they add directed mode to those maps as well

Nice video but you missed a very obscure ee reward in tortured path. If you beat all three tortured path Easter eggs in red skull mode (only unlocked once you’re Bureau lvl 50) you get the sanguine skull weapon charm.

Granted I've never played IWZ more than Zombies in Spaceland, but I think Cold War did it really well overall, especially considering the little time they probably had to implement it: - progressive rewards the more EEs you complete, so you don't get all at once at the very end - Start your match up to a Purple gun (yea may look OP, but you can easily get a blue gun rarity even at round 5, so not that broken as it may look) - neat cosmetic options - some cool lore implication with the altar I would have LOVED if they gave us something like a zombie operator, even if it was just the model from the Infected gamemode, with voicelines taken directly from the zombies themselves. At last, I imagine until there's gonna be a store associated with the franchise, we're not gonna see insane rewards like a whole new playable character with his own custom voice lines (playing as David Hasselhoff? That's sick). Anyhow, BO6 is already looking good so far with these nice rewards for completing each EEs, I really hope we get at least 1 skin per main character and a super reward for completing everything, not just cosmetic-wise but gameplay wise.

The Bo4 one technically isn't 100% true. You do get free doors until you close your game if you complete IX or Voyage in a certain amount of time. I'm not exactly sure on how fast it needs to be as this feature in general is barely known but it does exist and is a REALLY strong reward. And also the Sands of Time, Perkless in Prison, Sea Legs and Put to the Quest dark ops calling cards. That said it still is definitely the weakest when it comes to rewards.

Yeah my bad probably should've elaborated. So basically it forces the shadowman to teleport around less and enter the apothicon statue so he can be killed by the kronorium quicker

Basically the game needs to count up to 12, with every time the shadowman teleports adding 1 or 2 to that counter. But if you use the wisp the counter adds 3 or 4 per teleport making it much quicker to kill him

Stanley you do get free doors for the remainder of the playtime in bo4 for all maps except dlc 3 and 4, when you finish an egg next match you will be able to open all map for free, this last until you close the game

Purple tier for doing all easter eggs in cold war is amazing you're so wrong. It makes it so the games a sandbox again and you can use any weapon. It's the best next to infinite warfare and bo3

BO4 actually did have some reward for completing some of the easter eggs: If you completed one of the main easter eggs in the first 2 chaos maps, (i don't remember exactly how it works so don't quote me on this) you would temporarily gain the reward of being able to buy all the unbuyable locked doors early on your next set playthroughs, and i think every door was free too. However, quiting the BO4 application or loading Alpha Omega or Tag Der Toten will disable this reward and you will have to complete the easter egg again. (I don't know why those maps disable it, but they do) As for Attack and Dawn: if i'm not mistaken, Attack's reward at the end was not infinite card refills, but a bonus card refill. (The infinite card refills reward is certainly a part of the skull hop quest and Director's cut) and Dawn certainly does not give you a Perkaholic at the end of the Boss fight, it was moved into a Separate Side quest in Frozen dawn involving the dark room. The easter egg reward you get in Dawn was the Regenerating Special meter, Armor and Ammo mentioned in the Video. Spaceland also Permanently Unlocked Double pap Fuses for Rave so you didn't have to do that double pap quest everytime. (I thought that one was interesting to mention) Fun fact: the ww2 perkaholic is in fact not permanent, but you do unlock all 6 perk slots for the rest of the game, so you can buy all 6 perks again if you go down.

Filthy casual here, i dont really care. First ee’s i done were on cold war and the rewards were gratifying considering the easy quests per map. Each time i load in, i forget its my main account and im killin quick and look down and its like “oh shit i forgot im purple tier”. I dont care for story, never looked at zombies in that light; i just want survival, perks, pap, power, traps if i feel zesty, an easy power switch and a character that says funny shit when killing the horde.
