Had a home back in 2018 with a massively overgrown yard, dead fallen trees, brush, huge mess… got quotes from tree service companies that were 4K-5k for the clean-up, found a guy that had an ASV with Forestry mulcher… did a FaceTime with him walked the less than 1/2 acre lot, quoted me $1500. He showed up at 9am, started mulching at 9:30, back on the trailer by 3pm… That’s the point I dreamed of having my own little mulching business ; )

Until the machine has a hose torn off and sits for four hours, you return with a new hose and immediately snap a coupler off the other hose when a limb falls on it. You burn $300 in diesel. The trailer needs new tires… $1,500 a day in one of the most abusive environments possible means you’re lucky to keep $600 of it after expenses. This is an ULTRA high overhead business. 👍

You are correct. That guy doing it for 1500 hurts business. He hasn't been doing it long enough to account for cutter replacements, fuel, maint cost and the breakdowns that occur. I made those mistakes early when i started. The machine and head are being aboused like no other. I charged by the hour and only charged if the machine was mulching. That keeps the customer happy.

Stanley, Take that electric leaf blower and use that to blow out that filter. I've seen people use firecrackers to do the same. I got a plug in leaf blower from the dump and it looks all beat up and scratched but I went through it and didn't find anything wrong but I cleaned the switch and it works fine. I use it to clean my propane stoves and it cleans them in 2 seconds.

I only run late 90 skidsteer builds as much as possible to avoid all the computer problems with joysticks on and on to keep repair work on skidsteers more realistic... Mine are matched with a 60 inch CID xtreme brush cutter made in North Carolina thats a lo-flo system.So far the xtreme brush cutter has made it 7 years and I have only had to replace the bolt that will break to protect to perkins chain driven motor if your taking out a 8 to 12 inch saplings and Im still using the original blades that the unit came with it and sharpen them about every three months.... As far as bang for the buck it cuts everything that was shown being cut in this video ...Those carbine teeth can get expensive....But the carbine set ups are nice for sure I just never have had to upgrade for now. The CID unit is getting the job done quit well for a low flo system many would be surprised what all it can do once you know the way to approach bigger saplings/tree branches to take out.... Whats your thoughts on adding 1000 pounds to lets say a New Holland LX 865 TURBO with a super boom. Just by adding solid tires that adds 1000 pounds compared to normal air tires thats's14 ply tires that do not add 1000 pounds to your machine. Since attachment sometimes are very heavy. Do you think in the long run it just makes the machine burn more diesel and makes the unit run hotter when its 100 degrees out or is harder on the drive train over all or rut out the fields a bit more easier then air tires?.. Most of the time I'm cutting brush that is 4 to 8 feet tall and is taller then the machine and full of blackberry brair patches and thorn trees that I usually avoid cutting while running air tires..For the most part ive been pretty luck out of 7 years of cutting Ive only had to replace/repair the air tires about 10 to 14 times running a 14 ply with 2 spares in place on a rim if needed...Ive never tried solid tires..Its hard for my to justify 3500$ for a set of four of them..Thanks

That Seppi unit does have cut control which is the same as FAE’s bite limiter. Seppi also has engineered a smaller diameter drum which has very fast recovery time and doesn’t generate near the heat competitor units generate so there is no need for an after cooler for your hydraulics

@@hhazelhoff1363 due to the drum being small r and lighter, the head doesn’t generate near the amount of heat that the larger drums generate. Also with the lighter drum your gpm range is 16-50 gallons per minute. So you can run Seppi’s with standard flow machines.

As for cooling the engines down. If the engine is running, it's producing heat. But if the engine is not running, neither is the cooling system. The ideal situation would be to have an electric cooling pump and electric radiator fans that continue after the engine is turned off. So whilst the engine is producing some heat, running it also runs the pump and radiator fans which dissipate the heat faster than it's produced (well, at idle load and rpm anyway). So let that engine run until the temp is back down to the low end of the normal operating range. Also, cooling the engine slowly is more gentle on the metal. You COULD drop the engine into water to cool it off faster, but you will stress and likely crack the metal. Doing things the fastest way often isn't the best way.

Also, American the land where regulations don't require extra stuff that makes things safer. That hydraulic flap at the front lifts all the way up to allow you to take down trees, but when working things on the ground you can lower it to act as a deflector and limit how far forward debris is thrown. It doesn't make it safe to stand in front of, but it does reduce the danger if used correctly.

@@35manning I think the primary factor here is where they’re operated. When I’m running equipment clearing land it is rarely within sight of a building. I’m typically back in the woods hundreds of meters from another human. Very much like you see in this video, minus the camera crew. Having a shield to protect nearby is simply not needed. There aren’t any.
@35manning
@35manning 9 ай бұрын
@@WildAcresFarms that may be where you operate them, but theres plenty of videos of these being used in urban areas right next to roads and houses in America. I'm in Australia and don't get me wrong, I may or may not have done things in ways that aren't considered "safe". But if the option is there to do it safer, I will take that option.

Absolutely with the right trailer . You out a 3axle trailer behind it you will be over . My f350 weighs roughly 7k plus 13k for ( machine plus head ) then you have 6k to play with for a trailer weight . Pretty easy to stay at 25999 or under . You can get yourself into trouble when you start bringing other attachments like the bucket and a skid tank for fuel and other things . All of these rotary forest mulchers are about $10,000-$20,000 ( in the case of the $40,000 ones) over priced in all fairness. They definitely should not be more than a 15 foot bat wing . Alot of profit on these units that sell for $30,000+ . I don't care what anyone says.
