We go to Canada and test out a new snowplow system on a Kubota tractor and put it against a Kubota Skid steer. The Canadians Run a lot of Tractors with snowblowers on the back and claim they can beat a skid loader plowing lots. Let's test that.
More info on the plow in this system at : www.plowingequi...

I also have a plate on my tractor as do all equipment running on the road here. The tractor has the weight on the backend with that blower stuck out so far back. Also they stacked the deck against the skidsteer by using one with construction tracks. One with even rubber tires would have pushed better than the construction tracks. I think their blades has possibilities. I would like to see it in more "normal" snow over this slushy snow. In this video the blade did a terrible job of cleaning the pavement. I would have a lot of complaints leaving that much slush on the pavement. Thanks for showing us these different "tools" that are out there.

They have a great system with the blower on the back where the weight is distributed pretty evenly throughout the tractor giving it better traction on ice especially. I'm not sure what tracks were on the skid steer, but it was definitely at a disadvantage in this case. That was fun to watch, especially watching the blower at the end getting the snow out of the way. I'd just the to see what would happen if a stone got picked up and where it might end up. I bought an old Arien's blower, about a '79 model for $60 that had a blown head gasket. I replaced the head gasket, tuned it up and made my own custom chains out of 5/16" chain as the chains I looked at were pretty cheap looking and I would have had to cut out half the chain to fit my tires and it works quite well and for the same price. Also had to replace the impeller shaft bearing and added reinforced rubber pads to the impellers which seemed to help it out a bit. I also took the tires off, cleaned the rims and all the rust out and then after painting the rims cut some old bicycle tubes to use as liners to protect the tubes. Thanks for sharing.

Living all my life along the coast of California where it never snows this seems really strange. First time I saw a pickup with a plow on the front I thought it was for pushing dirt. Looks like the tractor with the variable width plow and snowblower attachment is really handy up north.

I have wheels & tracked skid steers once 99 horsepower in the other ones 86 horsepower my 48 horsepower tractor will out plow in most conditions the skid steers For lot-less operating cost. And if he had a plow on the back of the tractor there's a lot more tricks you can do. You don't so much control the tractor with the steering you control it with the brakes and you can get extremely close to things accurately at higher speeds momentum is your friend. That's awesome the way that plowed goes in and out like that it gives you even more control. Yeah if the traction is good and you get a v type of plow or an angle Dozer and the track skid-steer will kick ass. You can also Drive the track skid steer on top of the snow if you're pushing back snow. No way with the tractor. The wheel skid steer will work really good if you have to scoop and dump to the side because the snow so deep and you have to lift it. In really deep snow where you can't push it. the snow blower I think on that tractor would be the ticket in deep snow There can be so many variables. I lived at place by Lake Tahoe , called Soda Springs in California in 1983 we got a hundred and two feet of snow. The snow was pushing houses off the foundations and propane lines we're also breaking and the house would blow up. For two weeks three to five houses would blow up a night.. It was easy to get a job for $50 an hour shoveling snow that's with a shovel. Ski resorts had a hard time keeping employees are even finding employees

My rig is a LS 4155 with an angle blade up front and a 3 pt box scraper in the rear. I would trade out the box scraper in a heartbeat for that plow. My route is mountainous single lane paved and gravel roads. One of the neighbors has a skid steer, he struggles on anything with a slope, my tractor runs circles around it.
