3:00 1: Magnet mod contributes to this. The lower hull is stiffened by the upper hull being screwed down tight to it. The magnets remove this connection and make the vehicle much floppier than it originally was. 2: Any plans for an HSAB on your site for the HL KV-series?

@@StanlleyLegion I would end up with the tank you don't have one for haha. Not that it really needs it per-se...thing's pretty stiff all buttoned down tight. I am ordering the universal DAS for it, though, because the slop in the final drives is making it want to ride one track up on the tips of the sprocket teeth instead of where it's supposed to. Doesn't throw the track and I can re-seat it with a wiggle of the sticks, prevent it from happening by running the tracks a bit tighter than I'd like, but yeah. It needs those bearings.

Hi, i have seen all your series of upgrading henglong tank. It really helped a lot. However I have question. I exchanged henglong mother board Rx-18 since my old one doesn't work properly. it can't change direction while going foward, although it can make a turn. I thought it was problem of either motor or motherboard. I changed moter to 390. However. I changed motherboard by new version of Rx-18, but it doesn't work. I tried ST key, but could not make it turned on. What do you think is the problem? and how should I solve it?

If you use the Ultimate Gearbox, it comes with the blue motor and it is honestly good enough.

I have the Challenger and ordered a leopard and I would like to drive them in a muddy terrain. But do they get damaged by the mud or about 3inches of water?

honestly I'm against driving in too deep water- it's a mess to clean the tanks and the watertight intergrity is non-existent. It's the MFU board that might short out- but I saw some guys running their tanks through similar puddles (they have not reported any damage or we just never heard from them again, LOL) so can't be sure. But in hindsight, splashing through some puddles should be ok- since it's not immersed for long enough time for the water/mud to come in enough to cause damage to your MFU. Good luck!

Legion Products Stanlley thank you! A person in reddit told me that if I seal the holes of the hull with a glue gun and put some of the electronics in some balloons it should be safe if it gets into few inches of water or in the mud so I'll try that! But thank you very much!

For batteries, if i use a higher voltage battery, would that put too much stress on the tank or would that be okay (i guess i would need to upgrade certain components before i think of doing tank) i read more voltage means the engine receives more power and thus moves faster, wasn't sure if there was a limit to that

hi - not recommended unless the board is rated to do so. The reason being, the board is rated for a certain voltage, and using a 2 cell (2S) LiPo which has a maximum voltage of 8.4v is the most it can handle. A 3S is 12.6V and will definitely burn the board, as some in community shared. Some upgrade boards are rated for 12V, such as the TK Clark (TK40 and TK80) and IBU boards. Do check to be sure.

not difficult, just open the lower hull, and then remove the turret ring, the turret will then come off. the screws are on the bottom of the turret

you don't have to press the K+S long, just press it together at the same time and get the "honghong" sound, and it should have a change.

hi Matthew! the upgrade boards (all brands that i know of) requires the use of a hobby grade radio. The stock HL transmitter is only good for the HL MFU. the TK22 (or whatever upgrade boards) replaces the HL MFU entirely.

Better to upgrade the gearbox to the Ultimate Gearbox as those are fully ball bearings with steel gears and uprated motors

Don't use that. It's junk. Get the servo operated recoil units. I sell them. Or most RC Tank shops would have these types

Ok thanks for letting me know about the servo recoils what I was saying is the heng long recoil unit works fine on the tk24 but on the tk40 it just fires the motor and gets jammed like the switch isn't cutting in what channel would I plug the recoil switch in on a tk40 I've been putting it in channel 3 pins 4&5 like the other one that's works on the tk24 that's why I'm thinking I need to do something different because of the tk40

i think it's the board setting, which set to default servo recoil (i'm not entirely sure, as I didn't install the HL recoil unit with a CLARK TK board) you need to get the IR config kit (or TBU) and the Sony TV remote to configure the board. The instructions are on the website, under each board, in this case TK40

You can add the metal wheels and tracks. I added the metal wheels onto minem- but all it did was make the tank a lot heavier. The tank is much slower and the battery doesn't last as long because of the added weight.

Should have added new batter connectors. Those ones that were on the batteries are super old tech like 25+ years and have massive electrical resistance and can even melt. There’s a reason why they aren’t used in rc cars nowadays that pull lots of power

I wish Heng Long could just provide a kit version of the Tank: Upper/lower hull, turret, and gun. Let the modelers choose their own upgrade. Heng Long's stock electronics are so bad (despite the upgrade to v6.0), any true hobbyists will just rip it right out and install hobby grade electronics. Right now we're throwing away a lot of stock parts (and money) when doing these upgrades.
