Great tutorial;l on how to throw a cast net. It was great to meet you a few sundays ago while we were visiting. Our car broke the next day and we ended up with a rental Jeep and staying another week in the keys. Jen and I had a great time but our car is still being repaired in Key Largo ( I think they are on “KEYS TIME”). So we rented a vehicle and drove home. When the car gets fixed we will plan our return adventure to retrieve it. I did catch a 70+ pound tarpon on the charter at Bahia Honda bridge a few days after we saw you, it was cool just seeing the massive schools of tarpon rolling around us as we fished, Catching that fish was a live long dream of mine since I came to the keys with my parents 45+ years ago.

Nick I have always put the castnet into a bucket of fresh water with some fabric softener after a couple of uses. It keeps the net much more relaxed which in return makes it much easier to Pancake. Hence, if you do happen to get some chum trapped it won't have that horrid smell. I used to put it in fabric softener after every use but then that became a little too soft. This made it very difficult to get setup to throw. Once again,, Nick a great, informative video. Thank you.

Thanks Eric. We do the fabric softener once in a while like you said.

Great video. Very well done. Also let it be known that never store your castnet in a bucket. Use a mesh bag like a laundry bag. Your net will last a lot longer. Capt. Mike from Reelreports showed that on his channel

To clarify, I take the net, between 2 of the weights in my mouth, then cast it like that. I've done it on very large nets. It's a pretty common way to cast, especially on smaller nets but it works on the big ones as well.
