Sure, they're slightly more likely to experience domestic violence and 5x more likely to experience SA, but men are 4x more likely to be murdered, over twice as likely to be robbed, 3x more likely to commit suicide, and 24x more likely to die in workplace accidents. Are women _really_ unsafe?

Weird that some people don’t seem to understand when men do protect women, they are protecting women from other men. Within the patriarchy men are not competing with women, men are competing with other men and women are the ball.

Because all that is a big lie. Whole societies work to make women fear nature, animals, and their own instincts so they'll think they can't make it without a man, and will stay with abusers and exploiters out of fear. Men are the protectors... IN A WORLDWIDE PROTECTION RACKET.

@@alexwyatt2911 I’m sure you know that since 1784 there have been a total of like 66 fatal human/bear conflicts by wild black bears in North America, and half of those were the best defending itself… but did you know that in the same period of time, there have only been 82 fatal human/bear conflicts by wild brown bears? Something like 65% of those were bear self-defense, too. There are about 11.7 non-fatal black bear contacts each year in North America, and 11.4 of brown or grizzly bears. …and half the encounters in either group are caused by irresponsible humans. So honestly, if you’re okay with a black bear, you’re probably okay with the brown one, too. 😉

Rare but the best! I'd trust very few men to be alone in a place with. It's like some people are just waiting to be alone with you (when they think you're defenseless) to do the most horrifying things. Like, there was one time (It's actually not too bad / I push away that memory not to think much about it) when me, a boy and his little sister were in a room adjacent to our classroom during a teacher/parents reunion. We had to wait to be taken home while they talk and would spy on them by peaking through a key hole of the door to the classroom. I was letting his little sister see inside the room while I turned around and say the boy pull down his pants and underwear. I remember just blocking the view of his little sister and turning around, trying to forget. I was young and so was he, so I couldn't really understand and neither could he I think. It may not have been anything malicious on his part. But do some people, some older men, just wait to get the opportunities to do "forbidden" things that may hurt people..? Even people that look kind and non-threatening. You really can't trust anyone once you're on your own with them. Except a few people.

They do not care, just give them space. You can even scare them off if they get too close. They understand boundaries. My choosing the bear story: When I was 19, my family and I were staying in a cabin on a lake in the woods. There was a large window in the room I was sleeping in, almost to the floor, and I had it open while I slept as it was really hot. I was awoken in the middle of the night by sounds directly outside of the window. There was rustling, snapping and snuffling sounds. I assumed it was a raccoon or fox and went back to sleep. The next morning, I went around the back of the house as the window in my room backed onto the forest. I wanted to search for prints to see what kind of animal had visited in the night. Instead of raccoon or fox, I saw the claw prints of a big bear, right outside the window. That was exciting and a bit nerve-wracking, knowing he'd been about two feet from my head. But that night I slept in the same room, on my own, with the window open. Now, if I had gone around the back of the cabin and seen large, man's bootprints? I sure as hell wouldn't have left the window open and probably would have bunked in with my parents or sister. There is no way I would have felt safe in a room alone, knowing that a strange man had been standing outside my window at night in the middle of the woods. So, yes, I'm choosing the bear. Changing that scenario in my head to be a man instead of a bear really solidified that for me. Also, having grown up in Canada fishing and camping, I had run across bears before with no problems at all. They tend to just mind their own business. Bear attacks and deaths happen, of course, but they're rare enough that you can be pretty sure you'll be fine if you happen upon one in the woods. I would feel much less secure about running across a man I don't know.

Actually the aggressiveness of a bear depends on the species. Pandas and spectacled bears have far more reason to be afraid of you. Black Bears are timid and won't attack unless given no other choice. Brown bears will vary by species, smaller ones will mostly try to scare you off but larger ones will attack humans on sight. Polar bears will not only attack unprovoked, but are also one of the few species which will actually treat humans as prey, which when combined with their ability to outrun humans with ease means that you're FUCKED the moment a polar bear sees you.

"☝️🤓" head ahh OK but which man will attack and/or kill and/or 🍇 before and/or after death? Point those out. Those random who knows men attack other men even more than they attack women so we really should start to differentiate them somehow...

Yeah, my cursory thought was to wonder if it was a grizzly, because then I’m probably chancing it with a random dude. A black bear? Team bear all day. (And yeah, the other user is right; we ain’t running into a polar bear in the woods lol)

If you escape the bear trying to murder you in the middle of the woods you're golden. If you escape the man that went alone to the middle of the woods and is trying to murder you then you'll be stalked and possibly die because "we police cannot do anything until he does something to you". Good luck living life in fear forever✨

I do believe that a lot of men are nice but the problem with choosing the man is that you dont know that you will get one of the nice one. Its like if you get a bag of snickers but you know that like 30% are poisned, so you have to avoid them or else you might get poisoned, even if most of them arent. Honestly my initial choice had to do more with social anxiety tho because i didnt think of any of this. Id choose the bear over a woman too.

I wonder how many of the guys getting genuinely upset about this question would choose bear if the question was instead: “would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear (genus Ursus) or a man”, where the man in question is also a Bear (gay slang for masculine gay men who are fat and/or hairy). I’m curious because I get the vibe that some of these guys are the kind of straight men who get _very_ uncomfortable in the presence of anything gay (as in gay men, lesbians are another issue all together), yet they appear to be willfully ignorant of why women might be more comfortable being alone with a wild animal than with a random man they don’t know (or really, any guy who asks them this question seriously). I’m sure some women would still pick Bear (gay) over these guys though.

I think it’s pretty fair tbh, considering 90% of women in the us have been sexually assaulted and the odds of getting attacked by a bear is literally 1 in 2.1 million. I think rather than criticizing women for being afraid of men, we should work together to lessen that fear and hold aggressors accountable. I think we should help each other and work together so that men and women can become more trustworthy to one another.
