Marco’s name being Sol is interesting, as it fits with Star’s family’s space-themed names. There is Star, Moon, Eclipsa, Meteora, And Estrella (Star in Spanish). Marco, or Sol (Sun in Spanish) originally fit that naming theme which I find interesting.

there are a couple of things about this pilot episode that, in some ways, make it better than the final version. The first is that Star's actions have far more tangible consequences: Marco gets angry at Star for destroying the garden (I've heard some comments say that Marco seems more obnoxious in this version but I honestly think we'll all be angry if someone we've known for only two weeks has destroyed our house). And the second that Marco doesn't have supernatural strength when he faces monsters but rather receives a lot of beatings

Star’s wardrobe got a major overhaul when the series officially came out cuz her outfits in the pilot seem to be based on clothes and patterns from the 60s/70s and have more of a flower power feel to them unlike the clothes that she ended up with which are more pastel like in terms of the their color schemes and are more decorated with cutesy animals and creatures like octopus, narwhals, and smiley clouds. Also a quick side not but with Star’s old wardrobe we see her wear stuff like shorts and pants which she doesn’t wear in her wardrobe from the actual show cuz she mainly wears skirts and dresses in the final version.

Idk what everyone is on about I actually prefer this bouncy hyperactive loose sketch style that came with this pilot. While the show had to redesign and improved upon them I dont mind the eyebags under Marco/Sol, or the eyeliner staying with Toms design/that entire Tom/Mom gag staying in the show is wonderful! Its too bad this didnt stay as a monster of the week show instead of trying to go with the meta of 'oh no we need lore to be taken seriously' and then dropping toffee as the main threat was reaaaaally not the best ideas for the show tbh.... Actually, it's very _similar_ to Season 1 of the actual show, more specifically the first half before Toffee was introduced. This pilot has been basically reworked in an early episode (episode 2a "Match Maker", if I'm correct), with most beats and plotpoints left intact. There's only a couple of major differences, like Marco's name and Tom's design. If it feels different from the rest of the show, well, that's because Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are also quite different from Season 1, being more serialized, shipping-focused and plot-heavy, whereas Season 1 (again, specifically the first half), was more episodic and comedic.

I honestly kind of agree. This version of Marco feels pretty realistic to how someone might react in this situation. His backyard got blown up by some random magic wielding girl who he's only met two weeks ago. It's clear in this version they have some semblance of a friendship, but he doesn't ignore when she screws him over. I think this version of Marco could have been interesting in the show because we could have gotten to see some character development where he'd warm up to Star and maybe Star would try not to cause as much problems for him.

It's really interesting to see how most of the scenes were kept and reanimated in the official version, it's neat and also hilarious! I also like how funny it is and how Marco's name is Sol here, it's quite uncanny to see(just like when I watched the ATLA pilot and Katara's name was Kya). I also love how done Sol is with Star here but I'm glad we got Marco(and the new name too!), because their names are too similar to each other(the sun is also a star after all), and Marco is more likable by far.
