That was an incredible turn of foot by star appeal. My lovely late mum backed that German horse, 100/1. This year I backed the German horse Torquater Tasso 80/1

Starkey certainly had his moments, Star Appeal and Shirley Heights being cases in point. However, few will forgive him for his disastrous misjudgement when riding Dancing Brave in the Epsom Derby.

My neighbor‘s father trained this horse called Star Appeal who won this famous race in 1975. Theo Grieper must have been a great trainer who loved horses...

You have to be in it to win it! If Reference Point had picked up an injury and missed the 87 Arc, people would be saying "he would have destroyed that field."

Reference Point was injured in the Arc, and fully fit would likely have destroyed his field. As a fit and firing Grundy would likely of done here. He was a decisively superior animal to Star Appeal.

Terbine's right. A Grundy approaching full fitness would have destroyed this field. I'm not saying Star Appeal was a bad horse but I can see no possible way that Star Appeal could have got close to reversing the King George form.

Star Appeal did finish in front of Grundy at York in the race after Ascot ,they were third and fourth. Dahlia was the winner. I suppose the King George broke Grundys`heart ,he never ran again after the Juddmont

J'ai eus à l'époque la même réflexion sur la victoire de Star Appeal, cheval que j'aimais beaucoup au demeurant. Mais là, slalomer dans le peloton comme il l'a fait m'a laissée perplexe et j'ai toujours la même impression cinquante ans après. Dopage, vous avez dit dopage....... Quant à ma pauvre Allez France dont j'attendais le doublé, elle a eut une course détestable et est rentrée je crois avec plusieurs atteintes aux jambes ce jour-là.

@@ramierechristiane merci pour votre réponse, aujourd'hui encore, je m' interroge. N'ayant jamais vu, semblable accélération, surtout au mois d' octobre. Comme beaucoup, supporter '' d' allez France '', Elle eut tous les malheurs durant le parcours. Mais demeure dans nos coeurs, Cordialement Merci,

@@Jeanemilr-hn7tj Oui Allez France reste dans nos coeurs. Et il ne se passe pas un jour sans que je pense à elle car je l'ai littéralement adorée et le mot n'est pas trop fort. C'était une reine, une vraie diva. Quand elle entrait en piste on ne voyait qu'elle et on ne pouvait la confondre avec aucun autre. Je penserai à elle jusqu'à mon dernier souffle. Pour moi elle n'a jamais été égalée même si d'autres chevaux ont réalisé le doublé dans l'Arc.

Well he reversed York form with Dahlia & reversed form with quite a few others here... The Arc comes too late in the season

I bet Star Appeal at 120/1 and I bet Torquator Tasso 100/1 unfortunately for small stakes but it all adds up.
