Ident of Star Chinese Movies didn’t catch up within the batch of the original Star idents in 1995 (Viva Cinema as well) with reference to Pat Moroney’s video “STAR TV Network (1994-1998, Asia)”, including the 2001 Star idents ‘coz by the looks of it, the ident flow of SCM was just copied from Star Movies with some changes to its color and minimal edits as well, so the supposed 1995 & 2001, in the case of SCM, it’s 1996 & 2003. In 1998, Chinese channels on Star TV might’ve fallen within the batch too (not to mention no Star Chinese Channel ident in 1998 or 1999 ever surfaced, not even a low quality photo). Lian Las Pinas’s video “STAR Chinese Movies and STAR Sports promos (1998) 衛視電影台 and 體育台電視宣傳” and “衛視電影台 宣傳片 SCM promo (May 1998)”, the 1996 ident was still used ‘til 1998, as a result, with minimum source/s and “Star TV (Asia) ident compilations from 1990 to 2004 (updated version) (subtitles)(字幕)”’s video description as a basis, the supposed 1998 is 1999.

Star Chinese Movies should be renamed to Fox Asian Movies (an newer Asian movie channel aired all-Asian movies, Japanese movies and South Korean movies to compete with Red by HBO.

Thanks to -that evil conglomerate who likes shutting down channels just because of streaming platforms- Disney's 21CF buyout and its streaming addiction, the writing's on the wall for Star Chinese Movies' fate. The Southeast Asian and Hong Kong feeds were closed on October 1st, 2023. And with the upcoming closedown of the Taiwanese feed on January 1st, 2024, this eventually spells an end to SCM - an amazing Asian movies channel that, while not as well-known as Fox/Star Movies, is still enjoyed by Asian viewers for years. Good job, Disney. Thanks to your streaming craze, millions of Asians' (and other people around the world outside the U.S. and Canada, too!) childhood and memories were destroyed.
