For those who may not know, there is a hotfix update for 3.23.1 (100gb+ 😳)

the hotfix update is just the game with some analytics and dev tools disabled to possibly boost performance. 8 out of 10 times it has no effect so its just another 100gb wasted.

if you increase your pierc in scan mode to 100% after getting a unknown signature and aim at it and scan again it will let you know if its a prospector rock or not without having to fly up to it, if there are multiple rocks that pop up its prospector rocks, if its just one signature pops up untill you get up to it its for the ROC.

Use the tractor beam gun to lift Roc up high inclines that it can't make on it's own power. Also you can pick up gem's faster with the hand held mining gun if your Roc brakes down. 😁😁✌

I had a similar experience with the roc. I did some fps mining in the old Kudrow ore mine. That was pretty good. Found some good loot too.

This is wild, same issue, prospector rock after prospector rock. Nothing that can be mined with the Roc.

You can't mine prospector rock with the ROC. It only mines gems.

When you get that selling or buying error or it won’t let you buy the full amount or sell the full amount, just bring it in to where it’s just less than the full amount, and it will accept it.

I believe you need to increase the scanning PIERC (it shouldn't make much of a difference but it helped me), and possibly cycle your ship to properly scan rocks that don't initially work. I have also had issues with rental ships in general. Could be a mix of all types of Star Citizen "Features". lol. But, the game is MUCH more playable now than it ever has been in my opinion.

I 100% agree, the games probably in the best state it's ever been in no doubt. I just wished they'd show some love to some of the other game loops once in a while. That being said, it's Star Citizen so, no explanation needed 😂

(using google translate) Congrats on telling the truth about surface mining. All the other videomakers cut out the searching part, which is the most time consuming. You start out all excited, dying to inaugurate your new equipment, and you scan the ground for HOURS and find nothing. It's boring. I'm going through this and I can't take it anymore. And the funny thing is that when I found my first rocks to mine, I used too much energy, the rock exploded and then I lost the ROC and the ship, which was nearby. My god, what a freaking amazing game.

Got to Aberdeen instead and start at Norgard. I often find hadenite on the first set of gems i locate.

Interesting, I'll give that a try. It's funny too because looking back on SC Trade Tools it now says Aberdeen's also the best planet for Roc mining lmao

I started playing star citizen this past week. Was told i could go roc mining since i bought the cutlass black package. I thought i was doing it wrong because of the boulders that kept spawning. Not only that, the roc keeps glitching in my cutlass and i can't drive it out and I'm stuck in the ship.

Oof... yeah not to sound like that guy but, "Welcome to Star Citizen, enjoy your stay." Lmao all jokes aside, that sucks... It's a weird game where certain things are broken literally every other patch though so patience is unfortunately key.

I had this problem as well. I think it’s the mining arm… when you power down it sits all cocked yo in the air and it fetches in the ceiling when you try to drive out. If you go into mining mode and then exit, the arm will idle at kind of a “low ready” state and you can drive off the ship easy! Hope this helps.

You might want to give this a crack again at some point. You consistently make over 200k an hour roc mining in 3.23.1. To finding gems quickly just fly low and pulse scan normally and frequently going max SCM speed (not in scan mode). When a radar first appears at 4.5k or closer those will be gems. You also need to be looking either with eyes (not necessarily ship direction) for the gem signature to first appear after a scan/pulse. Only get out for hadanite which is pink in color and sell at just the local HDMS / mining outpost on the moon you are on.

Fair enough, I'll try it again off cam. I'm just curious though, why SCM mode and not NAV? Theoretically you'd cover more ground in NAV mode right???

@@warglesnargle Maybe too fast but its your call, nav would work. You need to look left, right and straight and seeing signatures pop up only inside 4.5k if you are going too fast they'll zoom by and easier to miss. You won't have to look more then a couple minutes, gems and even hadanite are everywhere.

As a beginner who try to be miner, I got to say this is very frustrating... Hand mine not that bad just a little slow even with heavy set. But Roc mining right now? If you don't have ship to carry it around, it just sad. Meaning less struggle for hours not even able to leave mining facility far. Roc is so slow and lack of power to climb any small hill. These hour trying Roc just waste so many time that I should just go hand mining which is more effective. If you can have nomad/cutlass or bigger ship to carry Roc, you are at a state you don't need it cause you already make money by other methods.

Don't know, whats wrong. Flew around 2 hours on Aberdeen and Arial without finding one Roc mining patch... all the small signatures were single Prospector / Mole rocks. Seems like something for the issue council.

I used to fly ins straight line and the viable rocks would only pop at about 4000 K or less. Anything that pops is over that is a boulder. Problem I find now is that it only seems to scan In front of you not off to the side like it used too as well. Not sure how to fix that ?

I know it used to be "," and "." to change scan angle but I'm not sure if they changed it. It's also possible that your keybinds got reset as well.

Right? You used to have actual fear of launching yourself into a boulder and blowing up. Now there's the fear that you can't even get to your rocks...crazy.

That's all the ground vehicles now. It's not exclusive to the ROC

they will fix it in next patches with sell problem, the new scanning can be hard at start but u need to figure it out then u can scan any rock ;)

Last night I found a decent amount on Wala. I also had no issue scanning the rocks. I wonder if it was your server, or maybe the area on Daymar...

Until it's fixed, I would avoid mining Aphorite. There is a bug with selling in bulk, so the max quantity you can sell at a time is 3 units.

I tried Roc mining on 2 occasions and on booth I could not change the power of the mining laser.

You're probably already familiar with this but you tried using alt+scroll wheel I assume?

Yeah ROC mining has changed alot, mainly whatever they did after 3.18 to the ground vehicles destroyed the ROC, no power, no steering control, very noisy and loud, plus scanning got ruined for finding gems, blows apart if you overcharge the rock, etc, I am an old ROC miner and used to make good money, but since they changed the ROC it sucks so bad now, and believe me I have made tons of tickets complaining but to no avail, help me out everyone by complaining to CIG, make a ticket or join someone else's ticket, they need to fix this, its been way to long now and we ROC miners have had it

Cig are getting totally dumb destroying good parts of their proper game. Now you can't see if they are gems or ores just approaching them. And more, they make gems very rare to find.
