Apparently the escape pod is actually an armor locker. But not to worry, you can still jettison bodies into deep space through the accessible cargo bays. You can even do two at a time if you’ve got a lot of bodies to go through.

I’m so infatuated with the outside of this ship. It’s like art to me. Its look fights what your brain expects. It honestly makes people uncomfortable and I can’t stop looking at it. Just hope it’s priced below $55 so it’s not a wash, sale wise

It is very in style for Crusader to pull parts of excisting products to make a new one. Spirit was based of old shuttles they had laying around (I belive from the old Seraphim Systems company) and the Ares was made from the middle development cycle of the spirit, where the lead developer wanted asymetric design on the Spirit. I absolutley adore this ship, even with the size 3 it was a wonderfull little daily runner. I hope people don`t bully CIG to change the design to much. Not everything has to be for everyone IMO.

Another excellent review! I have to say the intrepid is starting to grow on me a bit now its had a buff. The engines do sound really cool too. In all honestly I would have preferred it if they had gone with a baby C1 but with similar firepower and scu capacity to the avenger. I suppose the price will determine its place on the ladder. The problem is they don’t want to just make another 300i/ 325a, but with stairs instead of a ladder. They already messed up by making those ships way too similar. The starters (and similarly priced ships) are supposed to be the most diverse ship class in the game

@@asog88 I absolutely agree that they shouldn't make anymore ships like the 300 class but i just think they could have made the Intrepid easier to use for beginners, specifically with the design of the cargo storage area. Given the nature and complexity of this game and as someone who has spent countless hours helping new players figure things out I just think that starter ships need to be as simple and as versatile as possible which is why the Avenger is such a good starter option and one that I recommend to all new players. From time to time I still use my Avenger and will do until they make something of that size that is better. The 300 class cargo lifts are a pain to use and most new players aren't even aware they exist and those that do find them a bit awkward especially if you are in a hurry. I am a firm believer in building on ideas that have been proven to be effective and I just don't feel they did that with the Intrepid Cargo area. To me that is as bad as the 300 class. The rest of her I like.

I still don't like looking at that off center cockpit, but I'm sure plenty of others will still love it for what it offers. I'll consider upgrading a referral reward if the price is low.

Yeah the design was cearly made around a size 5 or so gun, the size 3 looked absurd but the silhouette makes way more sense at size 4. I still think it needs to be cheaper than the Avenger to make any sense feature wise though

The Intrepid looks MUCH better with the size 4 gun. It is unfortunate that the gun points 5-6 degrees upward. At first, I thought it was an illusion created by the angular cockpit design; but NOPE; now, it is hard to un-see. (Perhaps CIG will fix this oversight, making the gun parallel to the centerline of the cockpit, before ship sale!)

Yeah... Because the mount was made for a size 3 gun. Ima be honest with you, I doubt CIG will fix that anytime soon because you need to remodel more than you think to get it straight. It will probably be a while untill they look at it, much like the ION when it was nerfed, the reload animation got canceled "half"way because it was not designed for a high rate of fire.

I've been waiting for a Crusader starter ship, and a starter ship with a hab as good as this. The Intrepid is both. At first I found the exterior ugly, so much that despite being a Crusader starter with a good hab I was uninterested, but somehow it's grown on me. I'm absolutely going to try it this IAE and I have high hopes for this being my new daily driver. I still wish it didn't look like this, but I will say this: I've seen edits that make the Intrepid symmetrical, and (complete lack of explanation on how the interior is supposed to be aside) they do look arguably better... and really, really generic. I think I prefer ugly and unique over cool and bland.

It's a strangely beautiful ship. I probably would have enjoyed it even if it was still just a size 3 gun. I wonder if there is going to be some selling point for this besides it being just a starter. Like maybe it has one more computer tower than other starters so it will be a better ship at data running. I suppose we'll see on the 22nd if there is anything that makes this special over others. Besides being crusader and fast. Edit: just wanted to add that it is a armor locker by the bed.

I see it as art. I’m not sure if it was on purpose or not, but the lines mess with our brain so much because we don’t expect it. Our brains can see asymmetrical shapes and find it normal if it follows certain rules and this just doesn’t. I can’t stop looking at it

I think the most possible "special feature" could be the cargo bays being scan-shielded for smuggling, though they might create a data running variant with some servers and a military variant with the cargo bays switched out for 2 bombs.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa............. There are better starter ships out there. A starter ship should never take up all the room in a Polaris hanger. This thing will never sell like other starter ships. You should say she is beautiful inside out and we all know she is not lol. Now if it had the back side of the MSR.. then I would like this thing more. The ramp in looks a lot better then most starter ships.
