It's definitely an alpha so if you're OK with sometimes major game breaking bugs and patches it's such a nice game! I like to zone out and just go mining for ore... quite nice. 🙂

I assume all those NPCs gathered under the orb are meant to be walking around and providing immersion?

That's exactly right! And often they are, it's just occasionally the servers decide to have fun with the NPCs. 😂
