In this video we tour and review the MK 4 variant of constellation the Phoenix. This ship is a classic and showcases what RSI are capable of when making touring and luxury ships. Packed with features we know from its cousins this ship has a lot going for it. Excellent components and weapon systems along with a rover and snub fighter add to the value for money you get with this ship. I for one wouldn't mind being a passenger at all.

Star Citizens RSI Constellation Phoenix a truly great ship to have in the verse! But what do you guys think? As always let me know down below!! ADDENDUM: I unfortunatley got mixed up with the ships weapons, the Phoenix cannot fit four size 5 weapons as they are bespoke. Apologies for any confusion.

I think the windshield on the Phoenix could have been swapped for a realistically more expensive dome to reduce the number of struts, setting the Phoenix closer to being for luxury touring as well instead of just having better creature comforts. Straight glass fixtures are easier to service by a third party, but of course they aren't as pretty.

The Constellation series is still about the best value for the dollar you can get. For the same price of a Heavy Fighter, like an Ares or Vanguard. You get a large class ship with better firepower and shields, substantial cargo capacity, the ability to carry things like mining rovers, and a built in snub fighter. It's really in the same league as something like the Carrack, which cost almost three times more (in cash). I honestly think they under priced it because it was one of the earlier ships released. I'm really surprised they have kept the price as low as it is.

All this is absolutely right. I think the pricing is very messed up. This type of price for the Phoenix is reasonable, but 4.9 million for a ship like the C2 is just insanely cheap. They are boosting all the prices next update, but I feel that will just make gameplay more grindy but not solve the underlying issue: consistently fun gameplay

I was playing for a while and wasn’t sure what ship to go to and slowly upgraded to the andromeda and I fell in love. The Connie series is one of my favorite the only thing I wish it had was a ramp and not a drop down cargo but that’s hardly a issue just makes me be more carful where I drop the lift.

Another ship I have. My only complaint with it is not the cockpit windshield (which most others complain about) but when you sit in the co-pilot's and navigator's seat, the MFDs come up and block your view ahead. I may have said this before in another video of yours, but the main difference between the Merlin and the Archimedes is that the Merlin has a big nose gun whereas the Archimedes is much faster.

I love the Constellation series so much but here's thing I wish the devs changed: 1) The windshield suck! WHAT. THE. HECK. Why so many things blocking my view?? 2) The cargo space have so much wasted space, we dont need 2 passage, just 1 on the left or right, and the height of the cargo space could so easily squeeze 1 more SCU of height to increase the cargo hauled by so much! Just increase the height of the ship cargo space by a little tiny bit

Great video I love it!! Just one small mistake, only the top 2 weapons can be swapped to 2 size 5 fixed guns, the bottom 2 are bespoke and you cannot upsize them... unless this was recently changed, the ship can have 2 x s5 fixed and 2 x s4 gimbals OR 4 x s4 gimbals. One other interesting note is that on release, the phoenix should also get PDS weapon, these are point defence system that automatically shoot down small crafts and missiles.

I love the Phoenix soo much. I bought it twice... But I keep melting it because it just isn't worth the price. :/ Needs a rework desperately.

I think the gold pass should bring this awesome ship up to speed, maybe CIG will re work it to bring up to the current standard . Either way it's a win win for the constellations.

Tbh the point people miss for the Phoenix is that isnt luxury towards passengers but towards the CREW. Which makes it different than Origins Luxury designed for passengers and not the crew. Also is why I love the Phoenix for that. Because it keeps its utilitarian style.

Well.....No. It's luxury for the passengers mostly. Sure, the crew got a new upholstery on their chairs and beds but that's about it. They still live directly behind the bridge in that compartment. The passengers live in the actual luxury portion of the ship.

I just purchased one this morning during Invictus. I must say I'm a little confused by the hot tub. Is it broken? I can't seem to reveal it. The "Open" button outside of it seemingly does nothing. I was just wondering if you had any insight into it.

Wonder if u cld store an extra snub fighter in the cargo hold. Actually, I wonder more what a swarm of like 10 snub fighters would look like. Maybe they all harassin a larger ship into submission er somethn as a viable tactic.

It would make more sense instead of VTOL LEDs for the light to manifest as blackbody radiation as an engine radiating heat would. In the end its The Treachery of Images, c'nest pas une pipe no?

This ship is a very confused mix of identities. It tries to be luxury but the outside look just screams discomfort and utility, the entryways going through either a dingy, dirty cargo bay or right past crew accommodations would tell me as a passenger that compromises are made. It's got a bar / piano / who knows what, indicating the crew will be a mix of both ship operators and then bartender on the side? They didn't add any extra crew beds so does your flight engineer scrub the oil off his hands before washing glasses at the bar? CIG has a good idea here, the "comfort area" IS nice, but the chassis really doesnt fit the style. This feels like buying and old but serviceable 1990s motor home, putting a wall in the middle and slapping an extra bed and a hot tub in, putting up some fresh high class veneer but then telling a high paying passenger it's worth it after they've walked through your bedroom to get to theirs. If I want luxury in the game, I'll stick with ships that are designed for it from the ground up, not as a wacky tacky add on. It's like a wish brand origin ship. Sorry. Connie's are good, but Andromeda just seems the best choice when it comes to $ and aUec price. I do hope luxury transport can be rewarding enough in the future, but I await the day where CIG explains how they implement in game. The nice thing about non-living cargo is it doesn't complain when it's cinnamon bun didn't have enough glaze on it or the ride was slightly too bumpy.

I would definitely consider the Phoenix unfinished. Yes this is "just a variant", but I believe it serves for this Constellation to have an external makeover.

Well, it's not a Origin ship. And yes, the crew does have its own area and 4 bunk beds. The luxury part of the ship are separate. This is not meant to be a super luxury cruise ship, its a cheaper way to get into the game loop until you can buy bigger ships and perfectly fits the Constellation looks.

@@SirMadsen I don't think you understand what Schlagzahne and I are saying. Yes, the luxury quarters are separate, but how do the guests get into the luxury quarters? They either take the cargo elevator, or they enter through the crew quarters. Could you imagine going to a 5 star restaurant and entering through the kitchen? And where is the bathroom in the luxury quarters? There is none... they have to use the cramped portajohn in the crew quarters. From a roleplaying perspective, the Phoenix makes no sense.

@@caseytwill Absolutely. Phoenix and Constellation series in general definitely need a rework. The Phoenix is maybe the most incoherent design of the entire series despite its luxury area indeed has lot of potential. I own a Phoenix and like the ship but implementation is off at the moment.

Honestly the default Bolon drive should IMMEDIATELY get replaced by ANYTHING else. It's a terrible drive.

How can any ship be in service for 2/3/4 hundred yrs, that's absolute nonsense, CIG really need to rewrite the games story. Have a Phoenix and its the best explorer for immersion, luxury and value.
