It seems to be two different kinds of modularity: - Swappable Pods [Carrack, Vanguard, Endeavor (more or less)] - Modular Interior [Avenger, Galaxy, Caterpillar, 600i, Retaliator] So some of them are more...juryrigged...and replacing large sections of ship interior for another function while others are more plug and play and drop off.

The value of the Galaxy for now is the ship it loans(Carrack) and the $5 CCu from Valkyrie(stable price of $ 375) to Galaxy , buying multiple CCUs would allow players to fix it´s price while aiming for more expensive ships as the Galaxy may increase in price in the future. In IAE 2952 there were great opportunities to lay several CCu warbond paths($5-15 new money) linking them with stable avaiable ships(in some cases with store credit) in RSI store, that may be used in the future to create your fleet, there were also a lot of concept ships that would arrive(like vulture) that after being delivered will increase in price, making them good choices to link to stable avaiable ships using store credit. In the case of increase price of the galaxy(next IAE), the best way to accumulate store credit would be further upgrade to another ship(s) with warbond CCus then melt. The fun of the multiple CCu paths rellies on the concept that people may experience several ships keeping only the ships they like, without breaking the bank.

While I do believe similar chassis ships should be modular, rather than separate ships (Aurora, Cutlass, Freelancer), I also feel that we will likely want multiple of those classes, if we use them regularly. I bought the galaxy for the refining module, I don't need medical or cargo, as I have other ships I prefer, able to do that already. However, if I wanted multiple modules, I'd probably buy multiple Galaxy class ships, so I didn't have the downtime and expense. As for the refinery, there will likely be other medium refinery ships, and I may end up replacing my Galaxy at that point.

Today we're doing a mining expedition, let's equip the refinery module." They already said the time to change modules will be short as the ship is made for it. If you're thinking about buying a modular ship multiple times, all equiped with different modules so you don't have to switch, why don't you buy specialized ships instead? That defeats the whole purpose of a modular ship. IMO: Apolo + C2 + Expanse > 3xGalaxy, even though the apollo and Expanse aren't even in the same size category.
@Anachroschism2 жыл бұрын
@@Derzull2468 I don't agree that timers will be sh ort. It could take hours, and that's something that would need planning ahead for. Even if its 60 minutes, who wants to sit there waiting for that. It also comes down to persistence of what one wants to store in the ship, and those modules; do those items need removing first? Ship prep is going to be something quite important in the future of SC, in terms of what you carry for whatever mission or task you set for yourself and the crew. As for buying a dedicated ship; yes, there will be more options, but for some it's going to be simply preference. There's no reason why someone can't prefer the Galaxy, and buy multiple, as they do with other ships already. IT will come down to efficiency.

on the Galaxy's store page where you can see the modules it states "manufacturing and other modules at a later date" on the 4th card, so manufacturing is already confirmed for it. The Galaxy is the Cutty of its class of ships. Technically for the average group of players, the classic 2-5 friend group, the progression path of ships would be from single-seater multi-role, to cuttlass/freelancer to Constellation/Corsair and now to the Galaxy. I think players, especially veterans, unterestimate how useful the (Cargo-)Galaxy actually is. Not as combat ship, not as dedicated trader, not as mission runner, but as a daily-driver for a group of players who stick together and just want to play, without big org or something. People are stuck in this overcompetitive way of thinking that items/ships (depending on game) have to be better to be useful. I don't think that the specialization modules would've been necessary. A combined cargo+ small medical bay would have sufficed. And no, you won't often, if at all, switch between the modules back and forth. You'll very likely grab the one module that fits your and your groups playstyle. And again, I doubt that veterans understand who this ship is for. It's not for large-org players. It's for those small friend-groups who want to do either something specialized or multi-role. A bit of everything. Not to excell at anything, but be able to do everything.

I wouldn't call this negative information, it has actually made the ship make more sense. Before when they talked about moldularity they never really explained the cost and how/where it would be done, nor how much time it would take. This description adds more weight to the capability of the ship cause it means the modules will do a lot more than people think they do, and keeping a certain configuration has more weight to it. It has certainly made the ship cooler for me and affirm that the devs haven't forgotten the idea that swapping out ships, rearming, refueling, and loading things down the line is meant to be a more weighted function and take time. It's no fun when your ship can just be in and out of stations. Yes the game as it is right now kind of needs the quickness because of the "bugs" but even I don't really feel the need for everything to be fast, just to make sense, and when things start becoming that way then features like this will be impeccable.
