I've playing with my 10 year old PC. Originally 3rd gen i5 (i3570K), 8 GB RAM and HD 6950 until 2 years ago. Then upgraded to 16 GB, 2nd hand GTX 970 as it became unplayable and could leech parts off a friend's discarded PC. Main drive was almost full too so had to get another (SATA) SSD just for SC. I can play and enjoy the game but look forward to eventually getting a new PC that can play it in its (almost) full glory!

14:43 You can actually land on the big moving thing. It's a freighter shuttle btw. kinda like a container ship for the skies of Crusader instead the water of Earth. And you should definitely check out Orison some more in the future. I believe that you'd have metric tons of fun there. The nights are unbelievable beautiful, there is a bar/club in the shopping centre that you arrive via a lift that runs through an aquarium. Behind the sculpture of the Stormwhale you saw is a chime that's integrated into those gate like structures that I believe are symbols for clouds since they are sweeping up from below the Stormwhale the same way that the stripes do behind the model C2 in front of the Crusader showroom building which obviously depict the ion trails that come out of the engines. So you have a wind chime that plays from the winds of Orison integrated into a symbol for the clouds of Orison. The Green Circle hotel has super comfy rooms, a communal balcony for each story, a view platform on the roof, a small excercise room and a small yoga room as well as an infinity pool. The Providence Platform offers a gift shop from which you can watch the construction of a C2 and it has a big screen you should definitely get extremely close to and look at, and the Cusin Crows pimp my ship shop is on this platform as well, which is definitely worth a visit. And you can actually land on each platform aside from the visitors area of Providence platform and the Skyview platform. And Crusader has the longest dawn and dusk of all the planets of the system. It takes quite a while to fly from and to the edge of the atmosphere (it's 70 km you need to cross from the August Dunlow Spaceport, which sits at roughly 80 km above the core) but I absolutely love this location.

I believe that the goal is to have it be able to dock at some point instead of requiring a hangar. For Lorville, New Babbage, and Area 18 though it might still require a hangar, which certainly isn't all that great particularly since Lorville has awful hangars for every ship. And the worst part is that you can see that there are better ones present!

Sorry, last note. The expo halls for Fleet week is about 100km out of the main city. It saves a lot on performance. Ive been getting 40-60 frames at the show during PTU testing.

The MSR really needs a better quantum drive. The one fitted as standard is extremely fuel efficient, but slow as *bleep*. You can slash travel times in half with a faster one, and it still has enough fuel to do Area18-Olisar several times. The shields are pretty weak as of 3.17 though, before with two FR-76 installed, you could easily fight off two Cutlass Black just by standing still and hitting them with your front guns, no danger of getting damaged much. Now? Even one of them will eat your shields for breakfast, you really have to fly, avoid, and have people in the turrets (then it still is easy, but using the turrets is mandatory now if you want to get out ding-free). Oh, and the MSR is one of the ships you can actually name in-game. The name will appear on the hull near the cockpit.

The msr has 114 scu storage, the little compartment next to hanger holds 14 scu in the shielded from scanning. Its a blockade running ship. Its also one of the fastest ships in game in straight line

Took me a couple of weeks to catch up starting from when you jumped back in, but it’s been a blast. As a dedicated Mac guy who’s followed SC for years and may never actually get to play it, your appreciation for the craftsmanship and sheer joy at experiencing it is contagious, Olly. Thanks for doing what you do. I’ve also been waiting to make the following point for this moment: those who complain about SC not being ‘released’ or asking it will ever ‘be finished’ are missing the point. SC is wholly unique in the video game industry as it could very well wind up being the first ‘infinite gaming experience’- a project that just keeps growing and refining itself over the years and decades without anyone buying it from an online or physical store; and I think that would be pretty damn cool. It’s like being on the floor while a film is made- the experience isn’t about the final product but experiencing the process instead- blemishes and hiccups and all. Seeing it grow and blossom is a big part of the fun of following it. And in contrast to so many in the cynical, jaded world of gaming content, it seems to me that you totally get that. So again, thanks for doing what you do in the way you do it- it’s appreciated.

when i first started i chose orison as my home because i didnt know better. got on the shuttle, and it glitched to where the door stayed open on one side. i walked over to it to investigate and fell out of the shuttle. had to respawn less than 10 minutes in lmao. it is very pretty ngl

Nice video sir and just so you know you can turn on the power on the ships on the display floor. Also don't worry about the economy in the game because the way CIG has it set up is that no player will be able to take control of it nor destroy it. Because Chris Roberts has played other games and he knows about the economy system being broken by some players and he's worked very hard to make sure that SC economy system will never ever get broken by a player or players. In fact, as CIG has said before no player will ever be able to own a planet let alone be able to dominate any NOC in the game ever. The games economy system is designed in such a way to prevent players from trying to screw it up and break it. Also as the game moves further along through its development 1 billion credits is only gonna be pocket change because prices will get adjusted some will go up and some will go down and don't be surprised if you see a ship out there that needs to be purchased in game costing 600 billion credits or more even possibly 1 trillion credits. Right now as it stands with the game you're only scratching on a very tiny surface of what it's ultimately will be in the end.

Fun fact about the compartment in the cargo bay. That is actually a functioning smuggler’s compartment. Whenever you get scanned and have illegal items in that hidden storage, you won’t get caught. It is actually really great for drug runs and other bug events!

Tip for newbies trying to find spaceports at any landing zone - pull the Comms menu up on one of your ship's MFD displays. When you are in range of a spaceport, the Landing Services contact will appear, along with the distance to the tower.

Welcome to the Verse! Biggest tips I can give as a long-time player is: 1) To be very patient, dont feel bad taking big breaks and coming back after awhile when content feels dry. 2) Expect bugs and crashes, it will happen and it will ruin your play session at times. Try not to rage, just report the bug an brush it off. 3) But mainly, just enjoy the game as the project that it is. The game gets a bad rep being in alpha for so long but there's a method to the madness I promise. Its one mans dream project and they have no intention on making compromises to get it out faster. So sit back, relax and just enjoy yourself. Get excited for new features and to be a part of watching a mega game grow from the ground up and getting to take part in it. 4) Ask questions, dont be afraid to talk in chat and ask a million question. This game is full of passionate players who love to teach new players how everything works to try and make the learning curve a little less overwhelming for new peeps. 5) And lastly, although not required, find a group of ppl to play with. An Org, some randoms you meet in global chat, or just some friends or hell a mix of all of those things. This game really shines with other people to play with, the bigger the group the more fun this game gets. Good luck and have fun mate!

I want you to do a special box mission or two, with two mates you recruit after meeting as strangers in the Verse using in-game comms, and lead a spontaneous adventure or two. Who are those other two Brits Jack and someone, maybe arrange to meet them in the verse or something, that would be hilarious, the 3 of you forming a crew. Use the FOIP as well, and get together afterwards for a mission debrief around the mess table. Something like that for the MSR. Something Star Warsy and Millennium Falcony.

I think the game is purposely not fully released or any other stage officially, because it allows for features to be released much quicker and for a more dynamic game without being legally liable for an "unfinished" game. I started playing the game last weekend and at first it seems fairly straight forward. But the longer you play, the more you realise the possibilities that this "unfinished" game already provides. It can get complex very quickly. Just amazing in general.

Most of the problems with slowness, weird AI behavior, etc. are often due to an overburdened server. But with their recent announcement letter it looks like server meshing might be live this time next year. And in PTU this year. It's CIG so who really knows but this would be huge.

The issue for performances on orison it's the cloud and all the assets but the big problem is the leafs youe see falling on the ground are actually physcallized and that takes a lot of ressources on computers.

A key thing to make the broken bartenders have a higher chance of working is: stay in the same spot after ordering for like a minute or so

I think all of this will start working better when the ai can be injected into the smaller location-based server meshes when that tech is online. Every month we see the advanced AI they are working on but it can't be shown in public yet because the technology to make it run smoothly isn't properly implemented yet. We just got a "letter of the chairman" yesterday where it's outlined when the core technology updates will be tested and (hopefully) released.

@@MoonaLoona well I can't be 100% sure, because now they removed a lot of the bartenders in space stations so I think they want to conserve simulation power on the servers because now it still simulates an entire solar system. When the first pass of server meshing comes in: you'll have servers for landing zones and space stations and the AI will have a better time functioning on zone servers. At least that's how I understand it. Somebody could maybe correct me where I'm wrong.

That's the point, every location has pros and cons, Microtech is too cold, Hurston is polluted, Hex is in space, Orison takes a long time. They're clearly working every part of this game in this way, so we are always working with 2 parts that don't quite fit together. They did the same thing with ships

I love Orison, people just tend to exaggerate every aspect about time. Sure, it may take 8 minutes to leave atmo in a C2, but why are you coming here in a C2? Just fly in and out in a smaller ship, it'll take 3 minutes at most, not a big deal. Meanwhile the same people play Microsoft Flight sim and do 7 hour flights in a Boeing. Perspective.

Just started the game. Got 100k in 3 days. But I didnt die once in 3rd day, so this is HUGE progress. Going to farm for Cutlass Black for some Multi-spec opportunities And now I see this 1.2 billion and think "This is cool, but I want to get there myself". There starts a long road of just another Citizen

The hidden cargo area is shielded from being scanned by the cops. And all the exits in the hidden corridors are labeled

The Carrack has a model kit that you can buy currently, so maybe JR Design will uh, do a Starlifter at some point, and its variants... hopefully. Just depends!
