He is so handsome, appealing with warm feelings. It's a sweet, tender, not too strong but tender, lingering feelings after watching his dramas (angel eyes.) Just like the older women in this video, I wish I were younger and able to spend some time with him, even as friends would be ok too. As asian (Chinese), I don't think he is cold and callous at all. Look at his smile. How could the person with such smile is cold ? As far as his physics major in the prestigious Seoul National University, Physics is a tough science. He must be smart enough to soak in that field. I used to love physics and was the top 2nd in entire school's physics exam during middle school years. It's just later I went to study law/social science and now as interpreter in varieties of subjects - medical, legal, etc., .. How I wish I had chance to meet and have relationship with a man like Lee sang yoon in the future. .. It's way too late now.... So watching his shows makes me happy at least.

As a native Korean, I think it's really judgmental to speak poorly of Lee Sang Yoon; it's not his fault the subtitles are wrong. The guy he refused a "hug" to didn't ask for a hug, he asked for skinship which translates to intimacy in Korean. There is also a big cultural difference, Koreans in general are not known to show intimacy. If you are going to judge him solely on that one "refusal" then you are basing everything about him through this one short interview. In other interviews he has spoken out on being a very reserved, shy person who admitted, a big reason to why his relationships don't last long is because he isn't very comfortable in showing affection. There are not many Korean talents, much less the general population who has graduated from Seoul National University and he didn't study the arts, he majored in Physics. He seems like a very genuine yet reserved guy.

+fly baby Before getting into skinship I just want to elaborate on the conservative nature of Korean's in general. In a recent scandal a comedian was on a variety show and when she busted into laughter she unintentionally grabbed the thigh of Suho, a member of the KPop band Exo...that incident resulted in her having to make a public apology. I guess in many ways skinship would be very similar to ways parents affection towards their children, or at least between guys anything more than a proper handshake. In some ways it is very similar to the ways of the US where good friends will hug, give back hugs squeeze their shoulders but in Korea it also has an undertone of intimacy and even here I would hug or even give a peck on the cheek to a good friend if something really exciting happened but if a person I didn't know did that or asked for it, it would feel very odd. I don't know if that explained it clearly. Skinship is more of what it implies than the action itself so to ask a stranger for skinship would garnish negative reaction. I am gay though so I hug my guy/female friends straight or gay more often than the norm., but asking for skinship is different than simply asking for a hug.

There is casual affection, but really reserved compared to the US in the physical sense. It would be more-so just be between family members and very close friends and even then, there would be fairly strict limitations.

+jung wi If it is his attitude towards homosexuals that is being talked, then I can't say anything because Lee Sang yoon actually seems pretty conservative in gay issues. He explicitly said that he is against physical relationships between same sex people, that he can understand their love only under the condition of the absence of physical relationship but he still refuses to be involved in such love himself. I don't think he is any more conservative than other Korean guys in his age, but yeah.. there's that

so cute ㅠㅠ i don't think it was overboard for him to reject that male fan... afterall that male fan in the first place went a little too far by coming forward and claiming to want skinship (which btw contains sexual innuendo fyi). I mean, he wasn't the only one taken aback, even the audience was shocked! If he didn't come across this strong and just wanted a plain hug, I think Sangyoon might be inclined to accept. Calling him a jerk because of this one incident when you don't know his actual personality might be a little out of line.
