Hello guys! I’m back once again with another edit and this time with the highly requested Dreadnought one! I just need to tell you all something, so basically, I wanted to make like kind of a chaotic and structured edit, so there is no real chronological way to the episodes and the movies! I just chose the best clips that were the best to fit lyrics-wise to the different scenes! I know that it’s for some a sin that I added scenes from the sequel trilogy, however, hear me out on this please. I know that they did a lot of stuff wrong with these movies, but you can’t simply deny that the space battles were absolutely amazing and just couldn’t be left out! Especially when one ship is literally called ‘Dreadnought’. You may notice that some clips had to be re-used, that's because since the song has very few 'calm' moments, it was hard to pick out battle scenes with Star Destroyers as they only float and look cool for most of the time! 😅 Anyway, thanks for reading this message and until that I’ll see you next time! Even though the Empire is canonically based on the Nazis, I always thought their officer corps was closer to the USSR from the period of the late 30s to just after Barbarossa: promoted for political loyalty rather than tactical ability and reluctant to take action without confirmation from higher authority.

Amazing Edit! Love it. Though i have to nitpick a bit here: In Star Wars only something like the Executor was considered a Dreadnought, they had to be at least 5km long to be considered Dreadnought. Soo Star Destroyers wouldn't be considered Dreadnought. But since there is basically no footage with actual Dreadnoughts it is a valid interpretation xD

Watching this video, it suddenly struck me that the Star Destroyers of Star Wars are usually depicted fighting much more closely packed together in space than even real worlds battleship did on Earth, which is completely ridiculous if you stop to think about it. Dozens of times the size of a battleship, the infinity of space at their disposal, and they still go into battle in such cramped formations that a damaged star destroyer risks (and in this video does) accidentally ram an ally. Smart. Ah, suspension of disbelief, it gets harder to maintain as you get older! This was never an issue as a kid but now that I've realized the absurdity of their deployement in Star Wars I'll have a hard time not thinking 'that's stupid' next time I see this.

amusingly the venators that make up half this video have more in common with the as built lexington class than a dreadnought. they're carriers with big deck guns you shouldn't necessarily be using designed for defense, also caught that arquitens cruiser slipped in there towards the end. a venators battery when operating as a battleship is awkwardly placed and a little underwhelming for its size, as a defensive battery for giving fresh ftl arrivals the good news though its reasonably decent.

I understand this was difficult to make, especially with so many possible scenes to work with. But I can't shake the feeling you could have done better. I liked it overall, but it feels... not as good as your other works, tbh. I respect your effort and dedication though. Just... Brooo, I’m so sad that you didn’t enjoy it! 😔 But I mean I understand why you think that it’s not my best edit. Here’s why. During the drum beats, I change the video clips, it goes like bam bam bam. But then when Joakim starts singing, the bam bam bam still goes on in the back, however, that’s where I accord the clips to the sentences and not the drum beats in the background. It may be because of that.. And yeah, the thing is, is that I think that this song is fitting on certain levels but appears to be weird, due to the fact that it’s talking about water battles and not really air battles, if you know what I mean 😅 But in the end, it’s your opinion, I respect it! 🤘🏼

@@thecollectorhimself007 I think you're on to something. For example, from 1:30 to 1:41 you change clip each time you hear the drum. However, in songs like these, you hear the drum almost every single second, which means every second there's another clip. It shows that you put a lot of effort in this, which is good. And it also shows by how many different scenes are shown in the video, be it from clone wars or rebels or live-action movies. That being said, it does come as off. Especially when it's a scene of a Venator coming out of hyperspace. I think those are best used for when there's a sudden shift in the guitar riff, or when the drums do something extra; it adds to that shock effect. Maybe you could try focusing on the song's pace instead of the drums as an exercise. Try to get a feel of how fast the song is going, which scene could go well with this exact moment within the song (for example, the moments I just referenced to have the song going at a steady pace, which would fit well with a shot of a Venator exchanging fire with an enemy ship for a few seconds), and then letting that scene play out for at least two to three seconds instead of only one. If you try this as an exercise, you'll eventually get the hang of it. Knowing how long the scene should be to make it as fluid as possible will come naturally to you, then. Hope the feedback helps!

@@thecollectorhimself007 I can only agree with the great General. There are definitely scenes that work well, like the ISD shrouded in a nebulae when the song is about the shadow moving. And I also know it's difficult to match scenes to the mention of oceans, as there's not much to that in Star Wars. What I missed though where the scenes from Mon Cala in Clone Wars. I believe there were moments of a Venator flying over the water surface to unload troops and equipment. That would have fit perfectly, I believe. The rapid scene flashes the General mentioned were another point. They flashed over the screen so fast, it's difficult to appreciate them all individually. It's difficult to follow. But at the same time, it does also show the variety of scenes and the effort you put into it. In this regard, I don't think I can add anything to the General's advise. And the kinda last topic that gave the whole vid a bit of a desynced vibe to me, was the amount of scenes where Star Destroyers just get obliterated. Like, we don't get the introduction scene of the Executor, but the scene of how it went down. We get the scene of the two ISD crashing into each other. And so on. Meanwhile, the song is about how impressive these massive warships are and how they fear nothing in their way. All that said, there were also moments that fit incredibly well. That's why I said I do like the video overall. It's just that there's much to improve on. As I said, the shadow moving with the shrouded ISD is awesome. 0:47 fits really well, with the busted Malevolence being the prey of the Venators. 1:00 onward with the scene of Kamino works also really well. 1:10 is also so well timed, with the background of Coruscant actually having the red hue for the crimson skies. But at the same time, for one of the times the lyrics are about how they fear nothing, a shot of the broadside exchange of the battle of Coruscant could have fit really well imo. 1:18 was genius. The foes can't believe their eyes as that Venator comes right into a collision course. It's moments like that that show how well you can make this stuff, that make the other moments feel so random and off-putting. We see the Executor, basically the largest warship of the Galaxy, go down randomly during the beat. Imo it might have been better to show the introduction scene when the lyrics were about foes can't believe their size. Or the fleet of Exegol. It makes for an incredible cinematic shot, but again only appears during the beat. Might have been more fitting to have them appear when the lyrics are about the armada part. The Holdo manoeuvre, while a visually impressive scene, is a blemish upon Star Wars, and kind of completely goes against the theme of the song. Unless you wanted to highlight the Mon Calamari ship not fearing anything and obliterating the enemy fleet. Though I imagine you would have actually shown the Mon Calamari cruiser first in that case. As it is, we just see a fleet of Star Destroyers get obliterated in a second or two. It's a bit jarring. I hope this can give some more concise input in what I liked and disliked about this video, and hopefully it doesn't put you off from continuing. I can see how this would be a difficult song to make a vid for. Maybe you can do some others first, and come back later and make a v2 of this once you got more experience and a feel for the flow of the scenes, or something? Because I know for a fact that you can do better. As I said, there are certainly elements in this video that work incredibly well. We just need more of them while getting rid of the things that don't. :)

Indeed, I was quite inactive since the release of this edit and to be fair I did quite lost the motivation to continue this journey, but that was because of some personal issues, but that's not the point of this message.😅 I have to admit it that this edit isn't my best, because I wanted to do too much for it. I worked my butt off and spent a lot of hours in front of this edit and well I got into this spiral and didn't find a way to stop it. 😅 Now, I have to say that both of you gave me great suggestions. while I don't agree with everything, I think that these are still great tips. 😁 Funny thing, the more I watch this edit, the more it grows on me for some reason. But perhaps in the future you want to try another edit for this song, so you can compare how far you've gotten. And indeed, coming up short and making mistakes is part of the learning process. This Song is the true Anthem for all Captial ships in pop culture, and I cannot think of any other ships more deserving to showcase this then the iconic Starships from Star Wars. From Venators, to Imperials, to The Resurgents and Xystons. My favorite video using this epic masterpiece of a song.
