Oh wow! This looks good even for an on-rails FMV shooter! I remember playing Megarace (an on-rails FMV racer) when I was a kid, back when I was too young to realize or understand that it was all pre-rendered, and all I thought was how much better it looked than other games at the time. This reminds me of that and I love it!

Fmv games have been done : Timegal was ported in 2017 and originally there were the dragon's lair and Space Ace games. Not downplaying this, they've also got a cool motion parrallax look that is an optical illusion caused by the overlaid sprites over panned video.
@VideoGameEsoterica4 сағат бұрын
But remember the Amiga files are like 3MB each. It’s not just fmv
@Idelacio2 сағат бұрын
@VideoGameEsoterica the first dragons lair is only 2mb, mostly by keeping the animation and color data down. :p The gameboy color version is 2.5mb and is arguably more impressive than the amiga one. :3 Iridium 2 on the gba does something most similar to this game, albeit at higher fidelity with still only 8mb and a much gruntier system. Impressive technique there, even more so on the Amiga!

Mhm best double check that two of the channels didn't get dropped. Amiga has 4 wave sampler channels panned like this: left right right left. If a game or something has mono sound and can make do with 2 channels, it can just replicate the first channel to the third and the second to the fourth to un-hardpan it. Though in case game actually need to hardware mix 4 channels... well many people play Amiga in mono sum because otherwise... yeah.

FMV was an addon cartidge for the CD32, this when Amiga was made for the home to take on Playstation but didn't really work... its very nice, first time I seen it.... Amiga is very impressive however from a programming point of view its not really showing the Amiga at the best, see the Demoscene as in UK and Germany each year we have 'Revision' and 'Nova' parties where people make demos maxing out the hardware.

Reminds me of Iridion 3D on the GBA. OK that was not a great game, but it was a great looking game. Iridion II in turn is really good, and looks amazing, but it's a completely different style of gameplay. The first one is rail shooter with this type of behind view, and the second one is like a perspective top-down view. Both are based on prerendered graphics and animation loops. Obviously not FMV due to space constraint. Prettiest Amiga game? Agony. Not sure i can recommend it though. And of course Another World but you know that one from all the other systems. Oh here's a WEIRD suggestion, Metal Mutant. Maybe GODS. Oh also why not check out The Lost Vikings while at it.
