I still prefer the mysterious and deep darkness that N64 made us feel. It's supposed to be in the deep ocean floor where no light comes in after all. But I do agree the torpedos in the N64 should have given more light so you could see more.

Slippy is disliked because one; his voice doesn't match his appearance. He sounds like a woman. And two; He is the noob of the Star Fox team, which means he keeps getting attacked by the enemy forces more often then Falco and Peppy. Therefore, He's the one that would most likely to get taken down first, which can prevent you from getting a medal from beating the missions.

Slippy is like putting a mechanic in with a bunch of soldiers. Recruiting any pilot from the Cornerian air force or Bill's crew would likely be a better choice than him. He'd be better off doing back-end on the Great Fox or something. He's like a wussy Geordi La Forge - you don't take him to battles but he can help you prepare for them or be a part of a capital ship crew.

Aquas was my FAVORITE childhood level on Star Fox 64/3D! I honestly played this level more than a thousand times. I had to get used to the controls and piloting the Blue Marine, but I did have fun with this level, because it was really challenging and it heightened your senses of hearing and seeing, which you don't find in A LOT of video games these days and I was highly impressed by what Nintendo did with that for Aquas. I probably died more than once on this level, but that's because I kept crashing into things while trying to make my way through the inky-black darkness of the water. When I finally got to the boss, that stupid giant clam killed me and I had to restart where I left off, but on my second try, I DID get my revenge on that stupid clam!

To be fair, I own the Original Star Fox 64, and in the original game, they don't tell you the name of the bosses. This Preboss Fight Intro is just one of those nice little touch ups they added to the 3D version. I'm sure it was no coincidence that they selected the Zelda Font.

Don't worry. Slippy may get teased by his friends, but it's just a term of endearment and that's what friends do. Especially close friends. Fox, Falco and Peppy actually love and appreciate Slippy as their teammate. He is helpful, invaluable, and intelligent (Despite his Slip-ups pun intended😂) In intelligence, If I remember correctly, he helped designed the Landmaster, R.O.B, and the Arwings (I think) alongside the Blue Marine. And he also analyzes the Enemy and brings up Enemy Shields. Very helpful for Team Starfox.

This level is very pretty and gorgeous Nintendo really improved the graphics on this great game I enjoyed playing it when it came out on n64 back in 1997 now seeing my favorite game remastered looks incredible and I love those nostalgic sound effects glad they didn’t get rid of that otherwise I would not like it.

Because of the lighting. In 64, the lighting is incredibly bad. They fixed it in 3D, which made the scenery super beautiful and appreciable (thus also making the level easier).

@@GhostbusterPalu Still the controls feel like swimming through molasses found in the sludgy backlands of an Escargot factory. Which is in sharp contrast to the otherwise silky-smooth controls of the Arwing and even the Landmaster to some degree.

My question has always been. Are your wingmen in the blue-marine with you? Or is fox soloing it? It seems like Falco absolutely hates the thing while Slippy is all about it.

No. Fox is in the Blue Marine sub by himself, while everyone else is in the Great Fox. However, Fox sends visuals to his team. Slippy is all in for it because, as he is the engineer of the team, his tasks are more into repair, maintenance, tinkering, and creating new equipments, tools, vehicles, etc. I think Slippy was the one that created the Blue Marine and the Landmaster tank. These are probably new equipment that was not available to James McCloud when James was running the team in the past. So um, yeah, Slippy is kind of an inventor, although, based on the conversations, he screws up his inventions at times. Falco is not up for it, because either a) he doesn't trust Slippy's inventions or b) he doesn't like leaving his comfort zone of the sky, or c) both lol.

The n64 version was better imo because the darkness was more potent that you had to fire the torpedoes to help you see which gives it the extra challenge and what made this level so unique and memorable. This version is brighter and that has taken that specialness about that extra challenge away from this level because it is easier to see.

The lighting always seems to be better in the N64 originals. OoT3D messed up a lot of dramatic lighting from OoT (such as the lightning strikes during the final battle with Ganon) and this game messes up the atmospheric light/darkness dynamic on Aquas. One of the neat things in the original was when the angler fish enemies would emerge from the murky darkness and all you saw were their lighted lures. That's lost now.

How do I get to this level in the game?

Step 1: Beat the second boss in Corneria. You get to the boss by going through the archs after leaving Corneria City (note you must save Falco when he's being chased by the three fighter jets). Upon beating the boss you will be sent to Sector Y. Step 2: Get a minimum of 100 hits in Sector Y, and beat the boss

@@codyknight3580 You actually need to have 100 by the end of the level, not before the boss. If you have your score close to 90 and beat the boss quickly (to get the +10), you'll still go to Aquas. And a good reference is a line near the end which changes depending on your score. If instead of Peppy going "You're becoming a better pilot" you hear Falco say "Is that the best you can do?" (iirc), there's a good chance you didn't score enough in the level. You can still get enough to go to Aquas, but you'll need to hit more and it's guaranteed you won't get the medal

You need to kill a particular amount of enemies in Sector Y. You'll know if you're progressing with that whether Peppy compliments you in the end or if Falco mocks you.

It sounds more like they're just reading the lines they're given rather than giving an effort to show how the character is feeling. It's my only complaint about this game: put the voice lines from the original in this. Everything else about this game is fine as is
