I always thought Solar was the Lylat System's main star. Reading more into the Star Fox universe, I was shocked to find that a blue giant (Lylat) IS the main star and that Solar is a red dwarf companion. What's strange, though, is that in all the planets close to Solar, there aren't two suns in the sky...only one...so either the planets are REALLY far from Solar (Sun to Pluto far) or Solar IS the main star of the system...but even then, even in Macbeth, Aquas, and Katina, the star isn't any bigger than it is in Corneria or Venom. And when you fly on Bolse, you don't even see Solar anywhere.

I guess it would make sense if it were a minor star because the gravity at the surface of our sun, for example, is 26 times stronger than on Earth; no craft would be able to fly if the gravity were that intense. Although, red dwarf stars do tend to have surface gravity that is way higher than even that (Proxima B is like 165 times Earth's gravity), so.. 🤷‍♂.

nobody but Andross himself can guess why he created Vulcain, but the bioweapon's adaptive and regenerative capabilities are so strong, that he decided to test it by submerging it into Solar's plasma oceans. It's unclear if its continued existence would endanger Solar, but the Star Fox team isn't taking any chances.

Slippy says "This baby can take temperatures up to 9000 degrees!" #1 - haha, not over 9000 #2 - the surface is likely under 3000°C since it's a red star so it should take no damage...but if other stars are like our sun, the corona of Solar is likely in the 1 to 2 million degrees range, so how did they get to the surface at all? Hahah...also there's rocks in a ball of plasma fire, somehow. #3 - you're right, i'm watching these just to see everything in higher def!!!

@@medigoomnis You're close. Here's information from Nintendo Power's Star Fox 64 Player's Guide: "With a surface temperature in excess of 3,500 degrees Kelvin, (...) Solar is a red M-Class dwarf, one of the coldest stars in the universe. In contrast, Solar's antithesis, a B-Class Blue star, has a searing surface temperature of 25,000 degrees Kelvin and a life expectancy of a couple billion years." Also they made up a ridiculous explanation for the rocks being there: "(...) the rocks are composed of former space junk. The minerals are recycled and forged by Solar's heat into Supply Rings, Supply Stars, and Smart Bombs."

Many would confuse this planet for a star due to the prominences from the erupting lava. Even if Solar was a star, it would be considerably cooler, like a red dwarf star. Though it was speculated to be one, the celestial body in question is just a molten planet. In comparison, the hottest celestial body would belong to Io, which has volcanoes erupting lava exceeding temperatures 5000 Fahrenheit.

Like Io, Solar is within the XYZ triangle. It’s speculated the magnetic influence from the three nebulae may have caused gravitational friction that triggers the near endless volcanism in Solar. In Io’s case, it lies between two of the Galilean moons, which causes gravitation friction. Thus, Io becomes volcanically active.

I think this bioweapon was solely for the purpose of defending the planet from invaders (like Goras). Andross was trying to use Solar for military benefit after all.

In real life, it’s practically impossible for life to normally flourish in an environment that is volcanically active, especially one as hot as Solar. However, in Star Fox theory, Andross bioengineered the creatures to spite his former colleagues. The result is what you see on the planet.

Zachary Erickson In fact, there is a real life celestial location. Io, one of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter, is volcanically active. Since it lies near Jupiter and two other moons, gravitational friction causes the moon to be so active, it constantly spews lava in a near daily manner (in earth days). Eruptions were once recorded exceeding 2500 F at one point and some have reached over 330 km above the surface. Back with Solar, this planet is locked in the X-Y-Z triangle sector. It is believed that being in the center of this triangle of nebulae may have contributed to the planet remaining in its molten, genesis state.

I know realism has no place in this game, but... realistically, they should have been unable to leave Solar. A star's gravitational pull is far greater than a planet's, so even with faster than light drives, you'd still get crushed trying to leave....

Arwings are probably a lot heavier than real aircraft - they fly using a "G-Diffuser" system which seems to reduce the effects of gravity itself, so they don't need to be lightweight.

Really makes you wonder how the hell the Arwing can avoid being instantly vaporized by proximity to the surface of a star that I assume is similar to ours, and also... ignore the gravity. So, I get it, the Arwings have something called a G-Diffuser but apparently it's powerful enough to ignore the gravity of a STAR too. ... and, the sun can't instantly vaporize it, but random laser blasts and missiles can trouble those shields? Hurts my head thinking about it.

Bond with the Broccoli There are some planets, in theory, that remain in that state. In Star Fox theory, Solar remains in a ‘genesis’ state due to the way it is perfectly positioned in the x-y-z triangle. Scientists are still debating as to why it remains like that, but it’s a possibility that all three sectors contribute its current appearance.

Bacoon actually has a backstory tho. He was still alive while the old Aquan civilization still existed, but he felt envy towards them and destroyed them, and Andross' pollution only made him stronger. Vulcain, however, is a pure creation from Andross (Fun fact: he was originally going to be Sector X's boss which popped up from an experimenting ship but that was scrapped)
