This is a playthrough using Edward Bilstein in the Arcade version of Star Gladiator. Read on below for more information...
Bilstein is the end boss of the game, and he is an unlockable playable character.
In this playthrough, as a bonus I have included a fight against CPU Super Bilstein at the end. You can see it starting around 13:02.
===== HOW TO UNLOCK BILSTEIN =====
Go into the character select screen, highlight Hayato, hold [START], move to Gore, and input:
G K G K A A A B B B G+K
That will unlock Bilstein. Remember, the START button must be held down at all times.
===== ABOUT BILSTEIN =====
Dr. Edward Bilstein is a German-American mad cybernetic scientist who is the leader of the Fourth Empire and has plans to conquer the universe, wanting to gain legendary status of being the greatest genius of all time. He has the honour of being a Nobel Prize winner.
===== COMPARED TO SUPER BILSTEIN =====
He is basically a less powerful version of Super Bilstein, with the main differences being that he has a shorter sword range and not having the unique "super" move of summoning multiple explosion fields (which is unblockable).
Aesthetics-wise he obviously looks a lot different to Super Bilstein because normal Bilstein is "solid"m while Super Bilstein looks as if he's formed of aura/light, of which is transparent.
Gameplay-wise, he plays just like Super Bilstein with some differences here and there, but he generally inflicts much lower damage, which means that he is nowhere near as cheap. Normal Bilstein's side-steps are of the "standard" ones and not the ridiculous super-speed-distance ones that Super Bilstein has.
Normal Bilstein does have a unique move which the Super version of him doesn't have, and that is the temporary Invisibility move.
===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / TRIVIA =====
---- Even though he has the Invisibility move over Super Bilstein's Multiple Explosion's move, the latter is by far the better move.
---- His Plasma Strike activation can connect to the opponent, unlike Super Bilstein's one.
---- Unlike Super Bilstein, he can be ringed out like any other regular character in the game.
---- His sidesteps are of the "standard" ones and is not of the tremendous speed and distance ones that Super Bilstein has.
---- On the character select screen, his image portraits are exactly the same as Super Bilstein's ones.
---- On the versus screen, his banner image is different to Super Bilstein's ones.
---- His SG1 design is more akin to the Ghost Bilstein version of him in the sequel, Plasma Sword.
---- He is the father of Rain, who appears in the sequel Plasma Sword.
---- Outside of Star Gladiator, he has appeared in SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash; and he also made a cameo appearance in Tekkaman Blade and Joe the Condor's endings in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.
---- As the game's setting is inspired by the Star Wars franchise, Bilstein's design is therefore inspired by Darth Vader.
---- Star Gladiator is Capcom's first 3D fighting game to be developed by themselves.
===== ABOUT STAR GLADIATOR =====
The game is basically a futuristic weapons fighter, largely inspired by the Star Wars franchise. The fighting system and mechanics is very typical of a Capcom fighting game... it's a bit like a flexible Street Fighter with weapons and "dial-a-combos". The character roster is certainly diverse, with robots, mechs, monsters and creatures as well as humans.
