STAR ISLAND 2024 - SUN / YOSHIROTTEN | INSTALLATION IN MIZUHO PAYPAY DOME FUKUOKA

SUN, the latest installation work by YOSHIROTTEN, was held in Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan, on May 11.
Welcoming you to the "GATEWAY," an endless journey, a dimension where the past, present, and future intertwine, overlapping reality and fantasy.
The key art "SUN" is a representative work by the artist YOSHIROTTEN. In this "GATE WAY," the "SUN" embellishes the journey to STAR ISLAND as a symbol of imagination.
The "SUN" consists of a total of 365 images of a silver sun reflecting the surrounding colors, and each piece represents a day during a year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each image is titled with the date spanning from January 1st to December 31st.
The pieces were not generated automatically, but rather colored by hand using digital tools so that each "SUN" has a unique impression, expressing the changes of things and seasons. It can be interpreted as an interface between "sceneries and moments that only exist at that particular time" and an interface between physical and digital, from reality to the world of imagination.
YOSHIROTTEN interprets the "GATEWAY" as a warp space leading from everyday life to the extraordinary world of STAR ISLAND, evolving it into an immersive art installation using such equipment as giant 3D LED screens and lasers.

果てなき旅へと導く〈GATEWAY〉ー そこは過去と現在と未来が混じりあう、現実 と幻想の重なる異次元の空間です。気鋭のアーティスト、YOSHIROTTEN のアー トインスタレーション〈SUN〉が、想像力の象徴としてSTAR ISLANDまでの旅路 を彩ります。
〈SUN〉は、コロナ禍に1日1枚、1年間にわたり描き続けられた、全365点の周囲の 色彩を反射する銀色の太陽のイメージで構成されています。自動生成ではなく、デジ タルツールを用いた手作業で着色された〈SUN〉は、全てが異なる独特な印象を持っ ており、物事や季節の移ろいも表現しています。〈SUN〉を「その時しかない景色や時 間」やフィジカルとデジタル、現実から想像の世界へのインターフェースと解釈する 事もできます。それぞれのイメージのタイトルには、1月1日から12月31日までの 日付が冠されています。
YOSHIROTTENは〈GATEWAY〉を「日常からSTAR ISLANDという非日常へ と導くワープ空間」として解釈し、巨大3D LEDスクリーンやレーザーなどの機器を 駆使した没入方のアートインスタレーションへと発展させました。想像力の結晶と最 新のテクノロジーが融合する〈GATEWAY〉を全身で体感した時、あなたは何を思い 浮かべるでしょうか。
