STAR OCEAN: THE DIVINE FORCE REVIEW 2 Years Later, THIS WAS ACTUALLY GOOD!?

For a Sci-fi JRPG fan, this is god sent. For a Star Ocean fan, it was great comeback. As a gamer, it's just ok. Star Ocean as a series has been ridden with casual FPS or platform gamers reviewing a JRPG and shitting on everything. That's like telling the average person that's never watched anime to put up with the cringe of anime. I consume all gaming content and play all types of games, turned-based JRPGs being my favorite, and this action JRPG is just full of noise. It's got the most hate form people that had never played a Star Ocean game. It's always weird seeing randos play this game and review this game. Thanks for the level headed review. I do have to say when you were falling off the floating land mass and cliffs...you can run then Jump and float slowly a bit before rushing with DUMA. Also when jumping up platforms you can aim the cursor at the edge and the character will hit the edge and land perfectly in the edge. I know you won't be playing it soon but it would make your life easier. I also just figured out small things like this after my first play trough past half way and life made me stop playing it until recently. I felt dumb asf figuring things out so late in the game, but there's ton of mechanics than the average RPG in this game.

Love this game got 2 ps4 physical copy and pc version. I've played 4 hated the puzzle the fifth game have insane difficulty spike and force you to grind.

I was hooked on the combat and crafting, but the story just completely lost my interest once i got to the second half and the writers started challenging themselves to see how many times they could fit the word "Scorpium" into every single scene

i personally disliked this game. story was lacking and seemed rushed in my opinion. no strong character development, you just learn bout their personal personalities and why they are the way they are. nothing wrong with that but just didnt appeal to me. i approve of this video. game itself is okay, but that's it. you feel no real sense of urgency or dread. cast chemistry was on the good side. better games out there if you're looking for a game to play, but if you are a star ocean fan then give it a go.

It definitely is lacking refinement but I think once it gets going it becomes enjoyable.
