Great vid. Ive always enjoy having John Doe lol in my deck to keep people alive. I also dont feel that one should be able to select Civilian as a skill, never been listed as a skill from day / card one. Just makes no sense. Having the skill of Civilian. Lol

The Glossary says “ a skill is any skill that appears in the Skill Box, not a Classification” if You had a Engineer present with only the Classification of Engineer, if say U had K’chic present , one could not select Engineering as a Skill present and since Civilian has never to my knowledge been used / listed as a Skill, I don’t see how giving her the skill of Civilian is legal.

@durass001 First, thanks for the kind words! As for the skills issue: That is indeed a common misconception, the terms skills/personnel types/classification can be confusing. I'll try to explain: The part you are quoting is not the relevant one here. Rather, look at the following entries: - "A skill is anything that appears in the skills box of a personnel card, including personnel types such as ENGINEER. [...]." (Source: www.trekcc.org/op/1e_rulebook/Compendium.php#skills, first sentence) - "When selecting skills for the Borg Queen, K'chiQ, Frame of Mind, etc., valid choices include any personnel type and any regular skill that exists in the game." (Source: www.trekcc.org/op/1e_rulebook/Compendium.php#Selecting,Adding,Gaining,Doubling,andSharingSkills, last paragraph) - The appendix "regular skills" clearly lists CIVILIAN as one of the valid options. (Source: www.trekcc.org/op/1e_rulebook/Compendium.php#lists-regular-skills ) You are correct that to the best of my knowledge, no personnel has "CIVILIAN" printed as a regular skill in their skills box, but that doesn't really matter here. Btw, there is a card that adds it (D'jarras: www.trekcc.org/1e/?cardID=3747 ). The OG Borg Queen could also select it as far back as First Contact. I'm fully with you that it might be unintuitive, but rest assured it is a perfectly legal play. As a side-note, in February 1998 Decipher originally ruled that "ANIMAL" could NOT be selected as a skill when adding skills to a personnel (or as the classification of Soong-Type Android); this exception and other restrictions were cancelled in March 2021 to bring ANIMAL in line with the rules for all other classifications/personnel types. I would still say that one cannot pick Civilian as a skill since the one link given says in the sentence right below the 1st one ( Classifications can not be picked as a skill ) but i would say and only if You had the card in play like D’jarra that gave your people the skill, cuz otherwise, it’s never listed in a skill box , only then could one select it as such but as You pointed out so nicely with all the rulings and such & again TY for that. The ruling has been made. 🖖

Berlingoff Rasmussen would be my choice to beat this new Dilemma. his total attributes are 12 so even with Taking Charge out he is still a 15 which makes it possible.

See, this is just one more reason to Red Shirt with Osmotic Eel, Spot, Porthos and Isis. If you are playing Klingon you can send Boshar and the Targs and you don't even need a regular personnel to start the mission!

Despite being "Conscientious", Alidar Jarok from Homefront II only has 4 Integrity so I guess he's my Romulan for this one along with only a couple others outside of the new B-4 and Young Sheldon... er Shinzon.
