@StarTrekMarco
@StarTrekMarco 3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewriker2192 IIRC CBS allowed the DS9 documentary to use the material from DS9, but they weren't involved in the remastering, that was done outside of CBS. The new effects and new touch ups of the original negatives from 4:3 into 16:9 widescreen format was all done by private people involved in the documentary. That CBS is now using that footage in this trailer may very well be a sign of things to come regarding a remastering of DS9 (and maybe even Voyager).

It's a real shame that the movies couldn't be included in this retrospective celebration. Especially, since movies like Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country are some of the greatest pieces of Star Trek history. It was EXTREMELY short-sighted of Paramount to allow those to be stripped away from Paramount Plus just short of the 55th anniversary of Star Trek. Precisely why I'll NEVER rely solely on streaming services for my entertainment! You never know when something you love will be ripped right out of your hands. Also... Show the Animated Series some love! Quite treating it like the red-headed stepchild that you hide in the cabinet under the stairs!

Go Star Trek! The best series and franchise above all! Some awesome new footage and some callbacks to the older series! It sure has been a series that has been like a best friend to me, what has inspired me to look beyond the stars and the planets, to explore and discover and certainly to boldly go where no one has gone before!

For those of you who can't get enough ST, check out the 'Star Trek Continues' episodes here on KZbin. They're fan-made, but very high quality and even feature actors from the original series. (In case you wonder why Scotty looks so much like James Doohan, it's because the role is played by his son, Christopher.)

I find the line up for the panels interesting for the "legacy" segments. Every one of them is a single cast member from their respective shows who played one of the supporting characters. They're also pretty short. Don't get me wrong I like all versions of Trek, including New Trek, and I'm looking forward to learning more of what's coming up. But it's kind of sad that the old shows are getting what looks like a short clip show treatment.
