I gotta disagree. While there's no way I'd choose Spock over Kirk in anything else - the fact remains that James T. Kirk is the first Captain, the one who started it all... and if there's one tradition that will always hold strong, it's that the Captain is always the last one off the ship. Coolness factors don't count here. Kirk should have the last spot. Oh, yeah. I'd have been happier if you hadn't had Spock doing the Vulcan salute. It would have been a stronger choice if you had used a shot of him with a tricorder... or with a Tribble!

CHASEMARC You're looking at it from the perspective of decades gone by, instead of what Roddenberry and TPTB of the day dealt with. Read David Gerrold's 'The World of Star Trek', and you'll see how TPTB REALLY didn't want Spock and tried to marginalize him at every turn. Remember, these were the 1960s, it was all about 'the All-American boy saving the world' and there's also the fact that the show was never a big ratings-winner, having to fight to stay on the air each of the three seasons it was on. Granted, Nimoy is the fan favorite and no one denies him his place or influence upon the franchise - but first and foremost, 'Star Trek' is about a group of exceptional individuals with one out front... and none of that would have happened if not for Shatner. (P.S. - I've never been a real fan of Shatner or of Kirk, but I have to give respect where respect is due. Because of him, the position of a starship captain is an iconic one, and if we didn't have Kirk, there would be no Picard, no Sisko, no Pike... and even no Captain Mercer. At the end of the day, no matter how popular any other characters are, the Captain is the face of the franchise... even if that's Archer.

You know what would make this better than it already is? Replace the Endgame music with the ending theme from Star Trek: First Contact/Picard S3. You could have the slow bit for the majority of the cast and then have the captains played off with the TNG theme. I know that defeats the point of it being in the style of Endgame but it is something to think about.

For those few wondering who Dwight Schultz is listed with Denise Crisby, he's the guy that plays Lt. Reginald Barkley. And J.G. I agree. I understand about the popularity of certain characters however I think of the endgame list that if Captain America/Steve Rodgers had come out with his film first instead of Iron Man then he would have been last in the list even if the character of Iron Man/Tony Stark was still more popular than Captain America. William Shatner was headlining that series and he is the Captain. If it is the case of popularity, might as well have put Seven in the main end credits as I believe she was a bit more popular than Captain Janeway!

Nimoy getting the final billing is the best thing ever. Wrath of Khan is my number one favorite Star Trek movie. Spock’s sacrifice at the end, in order to save his friends, makes me tear up every time I watch it. Then they tried to one-up Nimoy by having Kirk sacrifice himself in Into Darkness. Both are noble sacrifices, of course.

This brought a tear to my eye. I'd have ended with Shatner's Kirk as he is and will forever be Star Trek, but it didn't detract from the overall effect. If you revise, I'd recommend some better clips for O'Brien, Geordi, Data, and McCoy.
