One of the coolest episodes! I love how Spock just can't understand why they don't act logically! 🤔

When Spock fired his phaser at the shield of bigfoot at 1:20, his phaser generated a temperature of 8000 degrees centigrade - that's enough heat to easily disintegrate the shield. The idea that a stone age shield can stop a 23rd century weapon is bad writing.

Perhaps you should retire. Americans don't think much because they are poorly educated. Further, this show was created and only approved because the OWNERS of the USA thought it would help to advertise their products. Once it is understood that we are being manipulated by entertainment the REAL REVOLT will happen. But humans are too stupid to take action. So I just laugh.

Anything that hot would most likely kill the person operating it as well, though.

@@danthemankhan In the episode "That which survives", Kirk mentions the temperature limit for a phaser at 8k degrees- can't recall if it was Celsius or Fahrenheit.

I think his phaser was set to stun at the time. He was too focused on trying not to kill them.

"The Galileo Seven" is one of the best episodes of the original Star Trek series. The furry, humanoid giants roaring like Tigers and throwing telephone-sized stone spears is just what might await humanity when we explore the stars. Spock does his best (logically, of course) to find a solution while keeping the monstrous natives at bay ( which wasn't entirely successful). Spock: "A most illogical reaction. When we demonstrated our superior weapons, they should have fled." McCoy: "You mean they should have RESPECTED US?" Spock: "OF course." McCoy continues to note that the emotionally unpredictability of the creatures is the reason why Spock's logical assessment of their situation failed, hence the choice he made to jettison the fuel hoping someone (like the Enterprise) would see it. Sometimes Spock had to rely on his human half, although he was reluctant to admit it. Fascinating episode, full of tension and adventure!

Okay, at 2:51, whoever chucked that spear would've had a lot of explaining to do since it almost clipped Mr. Spock for real. At 2:44 as well. Either that, or he's really accurate as to where he wanted it to go. Good episode, as are almost all of TOS.
