John Harrison's Theme. Music by Michael Giacchino Music includes the tracks, London Calling and Ode To Harrison. But imho they're the themes of KHAN!

Movie music gets overlooked so often. I mean its one part of the whole experience of a movie, but sometimes you get a whole new respect from the perspective of listening to just the score, it tells a story in itself, almost like a childs innocence at its start as it progresses to get darker and darker as it goes(grows) on.

That’s why movie soundtracks have been my favorite kind of music for years. One song can bring up a single scene and you hear it so clearly.
@EdiaStanfordBruce27 күн бұрын
It resenbles what Motzart did. He often began with a simple, primary clean theme usually in the upper registers then overlaid it with another darker theme. As the work goes along he blends them and adds to them until they become a larger, often darker thing. Very Motzartish.

This is not only a beautiful song, it has so much emotion that it almost makes my brain hurt. It makes you truly consider Khan's position; get a true grasp of what he feels. He is trying to save his family. His suffering has gone on for years. The raw emotion in this song is what truly makes it great.

Khan is a villain I can connect with. I really connect with him on the level of doing anything to protect your family, and doing everything to save them. I really like how he's not a villain just to be a villain, he has a backstory and a motive. It's not like he hated Starfleet right from the start - that was Marcus's fault - he just wanted his family back. Yes his methods were extreme, but to his mind it was the only way to get his crew, his family, back safely. Khan is my favorite villain of all time, and always will be.

+Juan Catalan In the comic book 'Star Trek Khan' it shows the Khan having facial surgery to disguise who he really was. Of course this was released after the movie came out but does try to explain things. I think it's just easier for Hollywood to have a white British guy be the stereotype bad guy in films. The worry was if you put an Indian guy in to play the bad guy people will deem it as racist. Strange since they put a black British guy in Star Trek Beyond, Idris Elba. If you watch the first Star Trek reboot film back in 2009 almost the very first face you see on screen is of Captain Richard Robau played by Faran Tahir. It shows that true progression has been achieved in the future. Anyway, what I'm saying is I agree with you. It's a shame that Hollywood didn't look to Bollywood either (Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn...) for someone to play Khan but there you go.

I know that there are many that would disagree and even go as far as to call it sick, but I empathize extremely well with Benedict’s portrayal of Khan. I can’t help but feel nothing but pity and sadness for him throughout the entirety of the story. Although he may have shall we say, misplaced motives, he has a heart too; the torment and despair he experiences through the loss of those he considers to be his only family and the anger that wells within him is no less than a perfect veiled depiction of human nature itself. Love gives way to loss. Loss gives way to pain. Pain gives way to anger. And anger gives way to hate. The depiction of Khan in the film is no less than a work of genius direction and portrayal of human emotion in its most raw form.

Star Trek never really had much of an iconic villain that Star Wars had, like Darth Vader for example. Yeah, there's the Klingons and the Borg, but when Khan first made his MAJOR villainous role in Wrath of Khan, Star Trek kind of exploded there. This movie brought him back, and even though he is much different from the original, it still gives no doubt that Khan IS Star Trek's villain.

No dead Wives.. no death of his people slowly at the hands of starvation and brain eating slugs.. while a super genius super physique can do nothing.. while the only man to beat him receives promotion and adulation.. no "let lying dogs lay" lesson concerning the SS Botany Bay.. No Polarized ideologies based on the same crux point.. No Moby Dick..and no hints of mythos and edifice inthe characters and the perfect analogy to Moby Dick.. No Eugenics wars.. No 30 million dead... No 25% of earth under his dictatorial boot heel.. No scarred bodies, no Idian heritage.. no Sikh ideology.. No lessons in Age.. and Parting Ways.. No 4 movies in a row, bringing a character back to life.. 4 movies to regain Spocks Katra.. (just 3 minutes and a Tribble ) No ultimate Sacrifice by Khan.. No Spitting last breaths at thee.... so im not quite sure what hes on about when he hollars "I am Khan" like anyone in that reboot would know.. or care.. but he can jump around like Neo in the matrix.. so.. uhmm.. eehhhhh... yeeeeah.. uhhh..

+Scotty SCL DS9 is like those fan made films ya see every once in a while. It's a series tied loosely to Trek lore and keeping with little of the other series feeling and charm. Conceptually it was a bad idea for a star TREK series as it was basically sitting at a space station with the most obnoxious characters in all of Star Trek. What's worse is that you are stuck between the religious zealots and all around assholes (bajorans) and the villains so lame they are often confused with a multitude of other aliens and reality show stars (cardasdians). it's a show with so little going it's way it makes repeated attempts at reminding you of Next Gen and needed a new series (Voyager) to uphold the mantel of actually trekking through stars with creative aliens and morality stories. Let's throw in the dominion war too because EXPLOSIONS (Trekkie irony is exceedingly apparent here when discussing the "greatness" of ds9). Ds9 is Star Trek for idiots.

This IS Khan "Aye, aye! it was that accursed white whale that razeed me; made a poor pegging lubber of me for ever and a day!" Then tossing both arms, with measureless imprecations he shouted out: "Aye, aye! and I’ll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition’s flames before I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! to chase that white whale on both sides of land, and over all sides of earth, till he spouts black blood and rolls fin out. What say ye, men, will ye splice hands on it, now? I think ye do look brave." or i guess.. "I feel his anger, despair, vengeance" is good to... yeah... absolutely commensurate... Fuck Moby Dick.

Hauntingly beautiful... There is something to classical instrumentals that just capture the essense of feeling. And this makes me feel both loss, urgency and dread of something unknown. But at the same time a warmth and a yearning for a loving reunion with someone you just can´t reach yet, or anymore. But i can feel the hope for it. Sad music like this can make me feel all flussy inside, like it is a temporary, mind-altering experience in small doses. I can listen to classical instruments and orchestral pieces for hours and feel what the artist was feeling through their art. It is something truly special, especially sad pieces like this. It hits something deep, deep inside that i can´t really feel normally. It needs something with a LOT of emotion to be felt. Like there is something buried deep in the human psyche that only something like music, or other very soulfull art such as this can help to release. So much underesstimated great artists behind the movies we watch. The movie gets lifted to the skies with pieces like this in it! Just the beginning of the movie... Omg... Haunting, yet so powerful!

There's a small drumbeat in the background of the song that reminds me of the Master from "Doctor Who".

Khan was so enigmatic. I hope they have him for a bit in the next movie, even though trekkies would probably be outraged.

No, they need to wait, bring him back in Star Trek Iv as a "badass".

It would be cool but I'm hoping ST 4 reintroduces the Cold War with the Klingon Empire and possibly bring back a classic Klingon villain like Chang or Kor.

Best part about that piano melody (called "London Calling"), is that it was written last minute. The scene where ******spoilers ahead**** the starfleet officer he gets to destroy Section 8 visits his daughter, had dialogue from the doctor, him and his wife. However, when Giaccino saw Cumberbatch on Screen he wrote this piece, Abrams thought it was so awesome that he dubbed it over all the dialogue.

if there was ONE thing I was looking foreward to in this film, was the music. And I knew I wouldn't be let down by Giaccino - he NEVER lets me down!.
