Best and hilarious are two different things. The former explains who he is, his ideals and what he stands for; the latter could be a mockery or finding humor where the subject doesn't intend it, like slipping on a banana peel. In these excerpts, Spock is being literal and in some cases pedantic or obtuse, rather than sassy. He would have to recognize the humor in what he is saying for it to be sassy. Some of his exchanges with Dr. McCoy qualify as sassy, but that description does not apply to these excerpts.

I highly recommend the fan made final season of the original, Star Trek Continues, which you can watch for free here on KZbin. Unlike most fan made Trek, it doesn’t rely on ship battles or flashy effects or phaser fights to win over its audience. It instead opts to bring back spirit of the original with story and exploration. It perfectly replicates the aesthetic of the original with costumes and props that look like the real thing, plus an authentic Enterprise set built from purchased Desilu blueprints of the original set. It finally brings us the conclusion we always wanted from the original show, leading up to The Motion Picture. It’s so good that even Gene Roddenberry’s son Rod declared it the official final season of his father’s show. All from a group of passionate fans who truly care for and understand the show.

Passed away from lung cancer. *Monyreak "Monty" Oum*: Animator and writer, best known for his works _Dead Fantasy_ and _RWBY_ as well as being one of the most awesome humans of this age... Passed away when the universe could no longer contain his awesome and, in a desperate act of self preservation, had to put him down or risk exploding. *Leonard Simon Nimoy*: Actor, film director, photographer, author, singer, songwriter. World renown for his defining role of Spock and also his amazing portrayal of Master Xehanort. Lived long and prospered. *Talus Taylor*: Writer of children's literature, most well known as the co-creator (along with his wife) of Barbapapa. Shapeshifted into a fond memory that countless will remember their whole life as he left us and Earth. *Sir Terence David John "Terry" Pratchet*: Fantasy author and comedian. Will always be remembered as the man who played harpsichord with the tropes of the Fantasy genre in the _Discworld_ books. Death came to him, shook his hand and said, "AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER," before they both left this world, talking like two friends who had known each other for a long time. *Fujiwara Cocoa*: Manga author and illustrator, creator of _Calling_, _Stray Doll_, _Watashi no Ookami-san_, _Dear_, _Ojou-sama to Youkai Shitsuji_, _Inu X Boku Secret Service_ and _Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku wa Tekitai Shiteita_ which will forever remain unfinished as she passed away only 31 years old. *Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee*: Actor, singer, author, symphonic and heavy metal composer, World War II veteran and personal friend of J.R.R. Tolkien. Most known as the most prolific actor of all time, having portrayed Count Dracula, Francisco Scaramanga, Count Dooku, Saruman and Ansem the Wise... Common consensus is that since it's well known that he was way too badass to really die, what actually happened was that he was promoted to the position of Grim Reaper. *Tatekabe Kazuya*: Voice actor, most known for the role of Gian in _Doraemon_. But we'll play some other day again. *Tama*: Calico cat, operating officer, station master, super station master, Honorable Eternal Station Master (posthumous title). Most well known for being the world's first feline train station master, singlehandedly saving Kishi Station on the Kishigawa Line in Kinokawa, Wakayama, Japan, from being shut down by contributing 1.1 billion yen to the local economy, was as a result of her promotions "the only female in a managerial position" in the company. She showed all cats how it's done when she, upon her passing, was enshrined at a nearby Shinto shrine and officially declared a goddess. *Iwata Satouru*: Corporate president, game developer and Gamer. Charged into battle to fight the forces of crime at the age of 35 and never returned... *Wesley Earl "Wes" Craven*: Film director, writer, producer, actor, will always haunt our memories as the creator of _A Nightmare on Elm Street_ and _Scream_. He met with a terrible fate, didn't he? *Daniel Kyre*: KZbinr and co-founder of Cyndago, musician, comedian, cult hero. Committed suicide way too young... If you, who read this, isn't feeling depressed, remember: Support and encourage those around you. Genuinely ask them how they're feeling, ask them if they are happy, listen to what they're saying and be there for them... and, for the love of god, don't just brush them off by telling them "You'll get over it" or "Just cheer up" or something like that. *Henning Mankell*: Crime writer, children's author and dramatist. Best known for the _Wallander_ series. Also an all-around cool guy who contributed to a lot of charity and was one of the passengers on board of the Gaza Flotilla (he was going to join the Freedom Flotilla II, as well, before it was cancelled). Sailed from the shores of the living on a one-way ticket. *Sano "Samfree" Takayuki*: Renown music remixer, well known for his contributions to the _Vocaloid_ and _Touhou Project_ communities, also the composer of the music in a few animes and video games. At the age of 31 years old he went on to compose music among the stars. *Miyu Matsuki*: Voice actress, famous for her roles in _Claymore_, _Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya_, _Haiyore! Nyarko-san_, _Hidamari Sketch_, _Melty Blood_, _Pani Poni Dash!_, _Pokémon_, _Precure_, _Romeo X Juliet_, _Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei_, _Strawberry Panic_, _Tales of Zestiria_ and _Tsukihime_. Only 31 years old, leukemia robbed us all of her voice. *Lennart Hellsing*: Award-winning author of educational children's literature, poet, pungeon master and nonsense writer. He sat with Mr. Banana at a cafe, ate up all of their buns without much delay; said that "it has been fun, but alas I cannot stay," he bid Baker Bengtson farewell, and flew away. "To where?" I don't know, but in good company, is both he and us and Marco Macaroni; he's with everyone else here, they rest in peace and harmony; and he left us with Krakel Spektakel, so we'll never feel lonely. *Shigeru Mizuki*: Manga artist, creator of _Hakaba Kitaro_/_GeGeGe no Kitaro_, _Kappa no Sanpei_, _Akuma-kun_, _Terebi-kun_, _Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths_, _NonNonBa to Ore_ and _Showa: A History of Japan_. If you, one moonlit night, see a Youkai that looks like a tired, old man who looks like he carries the horrors of war on his back, don't worry; he was a decent human being when he was alive and is probably one of the best apparitions that could ever haunt your night. Gene Coon and DC Fontana loved feeding Nimoy those Adam West Batman nerd lines from 66. It was humor at the time. Some of the lines are so corny they don't hold up. They did this in Star Trek, Batman, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies and Gilligan's Island (the Professor). It is not as unique to Spock as you might think. It first began with Uhura coming on to Spock about walking in the moonlight on Vulcan. Spock: "Lieutenant, but Vulcan has no moon??" Uhura: "I'm not surprised" cue humor music.

Apparently Nimoy got so much fan mail addressed to Spock it was nearly impossible to answer it all

Spoke is related to Sherlock Holmes. In Star Trek the undiscovered country in 1991 and Star Trek in 2009 spoke says that one of his ancestors on earth quoted. ‘How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?’

I'm sure anyone with any bit of european blood in them would be descended from sherlock holmes if you were that far in the future.

That would explain a lot. They should have had him say "Elementary, my dear Captain".

Holmes never said that quote
