Years ago, I obtained a few Communicator castings made during the production of TNG and DS9. They need a little work, but I think we are up to the challenge. Let's make some Trek props!

Seen your quest appearance on Netter's Network! Those Star Trek communication badges are choice! Fascinating, you turned them into refrigerator magnets. Quite logical indeed.

Awesome work, these badges really bring me back some years. They come from a time when star trek was for everyone.

Who is modern Star Trek excluding? Of course I agree these communicators are incredibly nostalgic as someone who grew up watching the series they came from. Peace and long life 🖖🏻

@@queens.dee.223 William shatner for one.

@@MrKrzys01 Honestly, I don't have a mind for personal drama between celebrities. It's sad so much drama happened involving Shatner. I hope reconciliation is possible. I also didn't take your original comment to mean exclusive on the basis of personal individual disagreements between actors and directors. Modern Star Trek seems incredibly welcoming and accessible to anyone who can watch it to me. While I much prefer the newer TV shows to the JJ universe, both exist, and there's so much variety among the TV shows, so there's kind of something for every type of fan, which is what I took you to mean by "everyone."

@@queens.dee.223 Shatner is just one the Nu Trek people and fanbase have excluded. By no means is he the only one. What you just said is a complete misrepresentation of anything allegedly Star Trek released post-2005. Anything from JJ or Kurtzman is designed to subvert, alienate and demean the franchise and message it built decades of lore on.
@queens.dee.2233 ай бұрын
@@MrKrzys01 I appreciate your time but am not interested in an online argument. I've watched every episode and movie of Star Trek (apart from not being caught up on Discovery yet) and believe what I said. It's also not clear to me how the fanbase could be involved in any exclusion alongside the studio if the studio is actively trying to alienate the message and franchise that created the fanbase. I again wish you peace and long life.

Amazing work, well done! I know you mentioned that you don't remember where you got the production molds, but do you know how far into production they are from? I seem to recall seeing photos/video of the Starfleet communicator originally being a two-part piece, the delta and the oval, that were individually painted and then glued together. I'm wondering if this piece is either a refinement on the design, or if it was used for background performers where you wouldn't really see any imperfections in painting or casting or whatever.
@garyambrosia3 ай бұрын
That is correct. The original molds I had for the Starfleet Communicator were two pieces, but they were in such bad shape that a quality casting could not be pulled from them. They had shrunk, and almost crumbled to pieces. These 'safety' castings were also in the same box with those old molds. I have no history on them, but I do know they were made by the art department crew on TNG/DS9.

Is there a reason you didn't fill in the air bubble holes on the originals before molding them? Your video says "restoring" but it's just recasting and painting.
