This was great although the transcriptions are a little off. Wrong notes here and there in the sheet music really can play games with an ear accustomed to the original recordings. LOL

5:40: Voyager's Theme. So beautiful. The best of them. I wish they were as grandiose and tragic as this theme with modern TV.

I always felt that the "Voyager" theme exemplified a sense of melocoly and a longing for home with an underpinning of hope... perfect for the show.

My vote goes to DS9. Mournful, resolute strength and clinging to hope no matter what. The symphonic treatment really overpowers it.

The thing with Star Trek is that it never leaves you, no matter what happens you become attached to the show and the characters in it. This is because the storylines are played so well that you yourself get attached, like a good book. Star Wars, on the other hand, focuses on the conflict, and people don’t really link with it as well as they do with Star trek

5:45 ("Have you heard? Have you heard ANY word?") "She set sail on a sea of glist'ring star. "A voyager, like all of us, seeking who we are. "She touched me, and my life was filled with light, "And I wonder where she's voyaging tonight. "My heart's a beacon, burning brightly to guide "Her through her peril, and to my side! "And come one day, I'll gaze at those stars and see "That my voyager is coming home to me." ("Have you heard ANY word?") My own interpretation, not canon, not official, but wtf. Public opinion, public domain. I had another lyric once for the tail that went: "Gene would smile if he'd see what they have done, "Because 'Voyager' is still a lot of fun!" (mmm, no, I prefer the "serious" lyrics) \\//_ wrw

I've always felt there was something noble about DS9. It shows Humans for who we really are, not who we pretend to be. It's dark, and powerful (In the pale moonlight). We're perfect. Except when we don't want to be.
@jeffdickey4 жыл бұрын
The DS9 theme really doesn't benefit from a large, symphonic treatment, does it? It's as intimate as _The Inner Light_ piccolo solo.

Why would you give the Voyager melody to violin/viola?! If I were to change it I would give it to trombone/euphonium. Also towards the end of Voyager it seemed a bit slow.

No, I didn't say we offend anyone by criticising a series I said "we offend all star trek by bashing any of it" & by bashing I'm talking about "bashing" not just saying which one you like the least. Just because it doesn't offend someone doesn't mean they want to hear it. It's ok to critique a show or to like 1 better than others but to troll on about why a star trek series is bad shows little respect for the franchise. P.S. DS9 is one of the most underated tv shows period.....just my opinion.
@GicaTractoristu11 жыл бұрын
Well, I am living proof they did not screw it :)) I enjoyed it very much. But the really nice thing is that we can both have different opinions. Star Trek as a whole still seems like a great universe to me! And anyhow, they did go back to the ”move around, explore places” thing with Voyager, even under the pretext of finding a way home. And I liked that series very much as well. :)
@raelinhayes135011 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that DS9 is really the best of the best in the star trek world. I like all the ones I mentioned but I agree DS9 is a great show and it unfortunately didn't get the praise it deserved. That may be because it had a hard time starting off with its 1st & 2nd seasons but it really picked up after that & makes all of it (including those seasons) well worth watching. People need to give these shows a chance. DS9 is seriously underated, its nice to know others agree. (;
@raelinhayes135012 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people felt that way about the characters. Star Trek has a special way of showing the good in people, so its hard not to feel like you know them (as we all want too) (; ...I'm watching Voyager now, I like it better the 2nd time. I would recomend to anyone who has only seen a show once & thought it was just ok to watch it again. Who knows, you may catch things you missed before. I think for me its just having the series grow on me. You know, the characters & all. Star Trek rules!
@raelinhayes135012 жыл бұрын
Man what's up with all the "I hate DS9" "I Hate Voyager" crap?? Seriously....Star Trek is awonderful! Great character development, story telling, & music, no matter which 1 you watch. I personally loved DS9, though I had to force myself through the 1st season before I relized it. Voyager, well its my least favorite but I still like it. TOS and TNG are very good, they are all good. My point is we should stop bashing one show over the other as we offend ALL STAR TREK by bashing any of it.
@jjaycallejas12 жыл бұрын
I really don't understand this hipster mentality. Star Trek has been a 'cash-in' since day one. That's how the hollywood film and television industries work. It's not some indie art house work. Look at all your Star Trek LICENSED memorabilia and tell me it's not a cash in. Are you abhorrent to the mainstream appeal or something? The Star Trek you love is still there. That said, 'that' Star Trek would not survive today. I'm excited that the franchise is still alive. I'm hopeful for its future.
@msinvincible200012 жыл бұрын
She didn't strand her crew, she saved the Ocampas. She made many friends, and the ennemies she made were quarrelsome races who wanted to kill the Voyager crew or wanted to exterminate other races. Janeway saved more planets and people than all the other captains united. She gave a hard blow to the Borg (when Picard distroyed only one borg cube), and got her crew back home (when Picard only got Q to do it for him).
@ncruhk12 жыл бұрын
Hmm.. stranded her crew on the other side of the galaxy... made enemies of more than half the delta quadrant, ruined the borg and the Q as interesting people, made constant stupid decisions and ended up with people getting killed, always had her own clique of people do all the work rather than let any other personnel do it... If I was on that ship, I would have jumped ship the first chance I had!
@Endisupertramp12 жыл бұрын
I disagree. It was a bit more action packed than I would like it to be,but it had the spirit,the unrelentless pursuit for knowledge and the explorers spirit. A sturdy and interesting crew and a fine captain. To me,it was the last valid Star Trek,it was a bit different,but I consider it to be true. The new movie(s) however...utter disapointment,nothing but mindless shooting and a hollywood franchise.
@vasili109711 жыл бұрын
By something coming along, I assume you mean an entire Dominion fleet allying with Cardassia to plunge the entire Alpha Quandrant into a where in which the Federation nearly lost. You're right, some political intrigue, excellent character development and some ship-to-ship fight scenes, what a horrible idea.
@BusterBloodvessel11 жыл бұрын
I can fault the show for doing it. I do fault the show for doing it. It was incredibly boring. It was like having an Olympic 100 metre race where everyone stays at the start line. It was stupid. The stories were useless. To get the same script writers as STNG, to write the same brilliant stories would have been fantastic. But they didn't. It was rubbish.
@GicaTractoristu11 жыл бұрын
I liked all Star Trek shows, indiscriminately. What is it with you people? That is the Star Trek universe we're talking about. No series is bad, and DS9 really is amazing for all the intricacies and character development. Enterprise is also very entertaining, I don't understand why people speak so badly of it.
@CaryCarpenter12 жыл бұрын
James Tiberius Kirk was without a doubt the best captain the USS Enterprise ever had. He had more guts and determination than anyone. He took the Enterprise and rammed it down Starfleet's throat on more than one occasion. Let me ask one final question...when the Federation was in trouble...what starship did they send in to settle things??? The USS Enterprise. End of discussion.
@JetsetBkk11 жыл бұрын
Rubbish. We don't offend anyone by criticising one particular series. Anyone who is offended by this statement should stop reading now. ST Original Series was very good for its time, but is now very dated. The stories in STNG were by far the best especially those involving time travel (e.g. Tasha Yar in "Yesterday's Enterprise"). DS9 is recognised as the worst series as it involved sitting around in a stationary DS9, blathering about Bajoran emissaries, politics and other boring nonsense.
@GicaTractoristu11 жыл бұрын
And DS9 did it brilliantly. You can't fault the show for doing it differently. Is it worse for it? Is it better? I know each is entitled to an opinion and likes and dislikes are subjective, but really now - give each show a fair chance. To simply repeat TNG would have been stupid.
@msinvincible200012 жыл бұрын

Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship enterprise, in west Philadelphia, born and raised. Its five year mission - to move in with our auntie and uncle in Bel Air. To seek out new life, and whistle for rare cabs, TO FRESHLY GO WHERE NO PRINCE HAS GONE BEFORE.
@CaminoAir12 жыл бұрын
@jocax188723 I think you're confusing Williams with Jerry Goldsmith. Alexander Courage wrote the 1960's theme, Goldsmith wrote The Motion Picture (1979), which was used in TNG. Dennis McCarthy wrote DS9. Goldsmith wrote Voyager and they used a song originally from Patch Adams for Enterprise.
@guywhodances11 жыл бұрын
Voyager would also be my least favourite. And DS9 the top. But you're right, there's so much in this Universe of Star Trek that everyone can just enjoy their own little corner of the Quadrant. I call the Alpha quadrant though....Risa baby!!

The 1990's were the best for Star Trek. Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: DS9, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, and Star Trek the Experience. Sadly you can't find any of them on television anymore.
