Please tell me you'll keep your good habit of going through the good trek series closing with the end of Enterprise. Currently rewatching TNG with you and hoping to get to Voyager and Deep Space Nine then Enterprise is offering some hope of comfort in these dark times. What the current state of trek is makes me wish for experiencing the golden era through your fresh viewing experience to see it as new.

@@charlessunkyst To be fair to the studio executives, Roddenberry already had a reputation for having relationships with cast members and they were not happy with Gene casting his mistress in such a high profile role. Also, they didn't think that Majel had the acting chops to carry off such an important role and that having both Spock and No. 1 being stern and emotionless was overkill. Which seems reasonable.

Diedrich Bader also played Jethro, nephew to newly-wealthy Jed Clampett (Jim Varney) in 1993's The Beverly Hillbillies, based on the TV series. He was very good as the naive and innocent Jethro who accompanies Jed and his family to Beverly Hills. Another fun performance was in the 2007 animated film Surf's Up about surfing penguins. Bader was great as the bully of the film, champion surfer penguin Tank Evans.

18:58 Fun Fact: This actress is best known for playing Lisa Stemple (Jamie's sister) in "Mad About You." Funner Fact: Suzie Plakson (K'Ehleyr) ALSO played a recurring character in "Mad About You" as Jamie's OBGYN and Paul's sister's partner (girlfriend).

I think it's cool that 'pulling a rabbit out of your hat' is still a term in the 24th century.

The ever-so-slight smirk on Data's face as he plays the rematch. You can begin to see glimmers of emotion, as if Data was amused, if he could feel that emotion.

Susie Plakson, K'Ehleyr, also played in a single episode (The Schozoid Man), as a Vulcan doctor. I figured you'd like the Worf episode.

The Strategema game is interesting to consider: Even today we have AIs so powerful they are rapidly catching up with humans in all types of games. There are some catches of course, like for many games they input directly. I.e. Simulate the limitations of moving a mouse and typing on a keyboard and it would no doubt significantly hamper the AI whos strategies often rely on superhuman micromanaging that physical inputs essentially wouldnt allow. Still, its not unreasonable to suspect they could put in a reasonable showing regardless. After all, they did manage to crack Go which was a tremendous leap in AI technology the equal of anything weve seen recently with LLMs, and Data is orders of magnitude more advanced. What makes it even more interesting is that Strategema is strongly implied to lack randomness and appears to have a discrete field of play and moves. That means Data cant be losing to a dice roll, some kind of social aspect, etc. Its hard to imagine a game that fulfills every criteria you see that Data wouldnt be capable of winning*, and interesting to wonder how such a game could be made, if it ever could be. *I am ignoring a big potential reason, and thats that Dr Noonien Soong left such limitations in Data.

In having "normal" and seemingly boring or uninteresting episodes, gives way to moments of excitement when you come across an episode you have fond memories of. For me, all three had different aspects to them, enhancing ones connection to people on the show and our way of connecting further to each of them. Even Lwaxana Troi, she reminds me every episode of why I have conflict with my mother-inlaw, and hence That is Life, thanks for the lesson(s).
