I assume that nearby realities have less differences... maybe one decision was different... like whether we throw Worf a party... and the further you travel the more differences occur. On the second jump there were two different decisions made, third jump three decisions changed, etc.

@@briandiltsmusic Absolutely, it’s very different kind of Episode for Worf. Usually these kind of abstract mystery episodes are solved by someone else like Picard or Data or Gordie, not Worf. So it’s interesting to see things solely from his perspective. In someways, Worf is actually more relatable than most of the other characters because he doesn’t have all the answers like Data. He’s not just good at everything like Captain Picard or Commander Riker, so it’s easy to relate to his sense of confusion and how unsure he is on how to respond to everything that’s going on around him. I felt like I got a much better read on Worf’s character from this episode. It’s definitely one of my favorites.

Ah, the infamous episode that Mike Stoklasa from RLM hates so much he dedicated part of his iconic Plinkett reviews to trash it:) I personally never had a problem with it and kinda like it, I mean yes, if you start thinking about the logic then it falls apart but for me it was always more of a guilty pleasure rather than some thought provoking piece... As others pointed out in their comments it's a missed opportunity to bring back some characters other than freakin Wesley, how cool would it be to see Captain Jellico on the bridge again? Or at least Tasha Yar at tactical or maybe as Commander? Many missed oppotunities here

C+? I love the reviews & the humour, and look forward to each one, but think you take the physics & astrophysics too literally sometimes. It’s a tv show that makes a genuine attempt to be as accurate or feasible as possible within the sci-fi-genre, but is still sci-FI. As in fiction. It’s a 45min tv show. It needs to be plausible, not part of a physics curriculum… having said that, loved the review and can’t wait for Sub-Rosa…

One thing that annoys me is when Worf was first jumping, Beverely said it might be his memory is wrong because of the concussion he got at the tornoment. But thisWorf didn't get a concussion so wouldn't Beverely scans show that he had no signs of a concussion? This would then raise red flags and they would go on then to do more in depth scans and would find out his "Quantum Signature" thingy is wrong. If only Worf jumped into a Universe where Dr. Pulaski was still in charge the episode could have been over in 15 minutes.

The multiverse theory would mean the 10 million most similar quantum signatures are closest in similarity to the reality Warf finds himself with LT Wesley. When the quantum fissure is breached, the closest 285,000 realities begin to overlap precisely because they are Very similar ( 285,000 realities where humanity joins a Space Federation, and that Federation builds Enterprise starships. ) The infinite other choices are too far different from the ST:TNG reality to matter (Universes without Earth, Universes without the Federation, etc) 6:50 Note the Communicator Major Change from the golden disc to the Three bar lines behing the Arch insignia. Drifting farther away from Our typically observed Warf to a more distant reality...

The flow was slow in the first part but perhaps needed to be, given that time jumping is a common overdone thing. However, in the end, I can see we were losing you both to the time-warp paradox theories. This, I heard is common, in the new Picard series. The trick to time-looping is just to let it go! One tiny spot in space where there is a rip, so imagine if Worf's shuttle was just half kilometer to the right, or to the left of it. The chances of just randomly having your course go through this quantum rip is similar to getting hit by lightning, every day, for a year. And probably at the same time each day as well. The idea of multiverse stacking in on just one individual one, well all this had to happen you see, for how else would Worf ever get the idea to get interested in Troi? It takes the whole multiverse to come crashing in on itself just so that it can dawn on Worf, "Troi?, huh why not?" Granted, the mental hoops it makes you jump through on the science here is terrible, that being said if you suspend disbelief it is fun to watch.

I love this Episode. And I’m not sure if it’s my favorite episode or not but it’s definitely in the top three. So much happens in this episode. I actually had to watch it multiple times in a row just to get all the details. The whole point of this episode is that things are constantly changing for Warf and if you take your eyes of the screen, even for just a few seconds your very likely to miss something. Especially early on when the changes are more subtle. For example when Picard shows up to the Birthday Party Riker mentioned Captain Picard could not attend but then he showed up a few seconds later. I just assumed he changed his mind and decided to show after all. It wasn’t until I started watching the series again that I realized that he didn’t make a last minute appearance at the Birthday Party. I actually had to go back to that scene again and then I noticed Picard had just about finished eating his piece of cake which meant he had actually been there in the room a lot longer than I originally thought, long enough to eat that cake. It’s just a small detail but I was really amused when I finally noticed it. The entire episode is full of minor changes that are easy to miss. I’m sure everybody picked up on date is blue eyes which are another fun little detail that isn’t even mentioned in the episode. It just happens in if you’re not looking at data size, you could totally miss it. I’m sure everyone noticed that weird looking alien ensign who is there who I’ve never seen before and of course Lieutenant Wesley crusher is impossible to miss. What can I say, I really enjoyed watching that episode again. I love episodes with a lot of detail and that’s pretty much the defining characteristic of this episode. It’s also a great Worf episode and an unusual one at that since it’s not about Worf fighting for Honor but more of a scifi heavy mystery.

No mention how Worf’s clothing didn’t teleport with him, he jumped into the new outfit? I think what makes the most sense is it’s Worf’s mind jumping between realities, so maybe it’s just displacing the other Worf - where they switch places (which is similar to the plot of the book Paths to Otherwhere). So not all Worf’s are jumping between realities - just that Worf I initiating it or however number of Worf’s. Worf did return to his reality, that first scene with the surprise party was his first jump that he made after hitting the fissure.

A very good, if not the best, Worf-centric episode. They totally should have made bat'leth competitions, and a Diana Troy relationship, parts of Worfs future story. They could grab low-hanging opportunities to deepen the characters. They could have created entire episodes (or at least B plots) based on that. Oh well. Can't unsee it. :) When stopping outside his room, Worf leans on his long, thin sword, bending it. No person familiar with blades would ever do that with a real blade.

12:47 It's like poetry, it rhymes. Speaking of, I think this is Mike Stoklasa's of Red Letter Media most hated episode. Somehow Worf and Troi have more chemistry in this brief, haphazard setup than Troi ever had with Riker. There was a pretty easy way to fix the "original Worfs" issue: just copy the mechanics of Quantum Leap, a show that was around at the time and one that the writers surely watched. It even has the word "Quantum" in it, hint, hint.

16:58 It's weird that when other quantum realities merged into theirs, only Enterprises appeared in the first place. But you seem to say that the part of space that merged into this reality, would be the Enterprise plus a bit of space around it? But why? But this does answer your question: all the Enterprises that were docked, etc. also appeared. But they would be far away, and thus not in range. Probably some Enterprises collided and destroyed each other. But the sealing of the fissure of course repaired everything. ;)

I actually give this an A- I realize it doesn't make sense science wise for a bunch of it but it worked fairly well for me

Weird how the Klingons basically have participation trophies instead of ritual scarring.

🏆 👍 Mostly a classic, but the ending fingers in some time travel BS to help pretend none of the events took place. TNG, as it got older, got lazier with plot cheats. Then come the movies... C+ is perfect. Great episode that loses its way then contrived tocmake an ending where nothing happened as far as anyone else was concerned.

I think if you emphasize the science aspect of the episode it gets a lower grade than if you emphasize the "what if" scenarios that the writers wanted to explore. It's ok to have fan service rarely

I find it hard to believe that Klingons would hand out 9th place trophies at one of their tournaments.

Can you please explain why when they hailed the correct ship to return worf , there is still a worf standing there as well? In the original universe.

I think maybe they just...all spotted an Enterprise and hailed the Enterprise...and...nvm I dunno... maybe they were all just yelling

I never realized 'Worf' is one of those words. If you say it a bunch of times, it really starts to sound weird.

If every possible universe must occur, does that mean that there's version of reality in which all the alternate Enterprises ended up staying?

I honestly thing that if Worf hop in to the parallel universe where Worf never get his ass kicked he should have stay there.

Jonathan Frakes actually disliked the Worf-Troi relationship that started with this episode commenting "The Worf/Troi idea is just absurd! It makes for great material at conventions but for real character development I think it's ridiculous".

Too bad we didn't get to see a reality with Dr. Pulaski still on the Enterprise. Even if it was only for a few minutes. That would have been cool.

at least one universe muss miss a Worf, for any of the other Worfs to become moveable... just like the sliding squares game thingy.
