I loved it except I wished that the images followed the actual (or future) timeline better. They jumped around showing future, past, future, past, past, future...
@michaeltamada14614 ай бұрын
Right, I always felt the song was okay; I didn't hate it but didn't love it. What I did love, and what made ST:Enterprise's opening better than all of the others was the photos and videos. They showed humanity's insatiable instinct for exploration, from Polynesian mariners to caravels and galleons during the Age of Exploration to the Wright brothers to the Space Race to Apollo 11 to the ISS to Cochran and the warp drive. That Earth-centric opening wouldn't work for the other ST series, but it was perfect for ST:Enterprise. And it honored the explorers who came before and who will come after. And the song works here for tying all the Star Treks together. As another commenter said it would've been even better if it had moved forward chronologically, or at least had tied the themes together instead of having clips that jumped around both chronologically and thematically.

My only beef was that the intro song should've been instrumental, not sung. It was ok, but I would've preferred the intro to "In a Mirror, Darkly" or "Elder Scrolls"/"Mass Requiem" piece in one of the You Tube videos. I felt myself having to ff to get to the episode beginning. Songs are better left to drama shows-like "Cheers" and dramas like "Life Goes On".

It amazes me that a rag-tag group of producers, directors, writers, and actors (many of them with personal faults, failings, foibles, and grudges) still managed to put together a compelling show based on the highest of virtues, and of humanity finally growing out of its infantile stage and its greedy, grasping ways, to explore a vast galaxy and forever learning as they go. It gives me hope that we humans are not destined to destruction, even if we are a bit screwed-up individually. Happy Birthday 50th Star Trek!

The beauty of the Star Trek universe is the morals and values it holds for humanity. It seems disheartening to watch it these days, but then again all the events depicted took place after a kind of global war and disaster, then people put it all back together and made something beautiful. Perhaps that is the faith we can find in our hearts - not just individual accomplishments but the rise of our entire species out of darkness.

I think that Enterprise would have been better recieved had it not come off the backs of three Star Trek franchises that ran concurrently from the 80's to 2001. Imagine the same cast and premise coming before New Generation. Archer was one of the most relateable captains. He was inperfectly perfect, in over his head. His crew was learning daily. The doctor was one of the best rounded doctors in the series. Picard was always in control, could turn a phrase like none other. Sisko was a physical force that would stop at nothing. His confidence was unwavering even when he knew his actions weren't always right. He had to win to save his people. Janeway never lost an argument the whole journey. She kept her ideals while going through an area of space where she had no backup. She continued to adhere to the standards she was taught while charting space on her way home. Kirk was a maverick who set a standard no captain should ever follow. To me I think it would have been wise to show the progression of Archer openly not knowing what to do. Fully admitting to this while trying to do his best, to Kirk in his maverick but assured actions. Then from Kirk you have the always assured Picard to the immovable Sisko, to the unwavering Janeway. Natural progression. Can you imagine how Archer would have reacted to Q?
