@@PugnaciousProductions like hell they can go 50mph. who ever wrote that in a book or a wiki page is a liar or extremely low iq. a walker going 50mph is 24 meters per second. meaning each foot moving would need to be a stride of 24 meters and for all 4 feet to move in a single second. the AT AT itself is only 20 meters long. that means for it to go 50mph it's stride would realistically be a max of about 1/3 its length and thats being generous, so all the feet would have to move 3 times every second. thats 12 steps a second so a step every 0.083 seconds, moving 8 meters each step. that means the feet would have to be moving each step has to start, accelerate, slow down, and then stop, to move 8 meters in 0.083 seconds using suvat calculations the feet would have to accelerate from stopped to 192.77m/s then decelerate back to 0 in 0.083 seconds. for reference 192.77m/s thats 431 miles per hour. That claim is 100% nonsense. even if there was some sci fi mumbo jumbo that made it mechanically possible it would be functionally ridiculous and look absolutely absurd.

The amount of firepower those main guns can output is INSANE. Rebels and ESB shows each heavy cannon can fire twice a second, which is probably about 3x more firepower than an AT-TE’s mass driver at full output. The repeating medium cannons are hella sick as well

@shade88163 ай бұрын
@BLACKVVAR No shielding. It just had really thick armor that it could shrug off anything that wasn't anti-warship. Its why they wern't all that fast, and usually have AT-ST cover. @shade88163 ай бұрын
@LadyJadeThe2nd So I will say that I really enjoy mechs. Gundam, Robotech, Battletech, Armored Core... mechs are awesome. HOWEVER! The AT-AT is incredibly slow and very limited in its field of fire. Yes, they can handle a number of environments, but so can Juggernauts. Juggernauts also have similar weapons and troops capacity, but far greater speed at somewhat less durability. At hoth, a squad of Juggernauts would have broken through the defensive line significantly faster. Also, the rebels were super dumb when fighting the AT-ATs. The speeders should have easily outmanuvered the walkers and tripped all of them well before they got close to the shield generator. If the rebels had used X-wings with proton torpedos or y-wings with plasma bombs, the AT-ATs, without support, would have been slaughtered as well. The time it took the AT -AT walkers to get to Echo Base, many transports had already escaped. Any anti-warship weapon can seriously damage them. They are useful against rebels who have limited resources, but against a peer enemy, they are liabilities that will get troopers killed. Heck, a snow speeder crashing into an AT-AT head can cripple the entire machine. It would be akin if a modified civilian truck ran into an Abrams tank without being packed with explosives and still somehow managed to cripple it. The AT-AT does have its uses, but they have a number of glaring weaknesses compared to other combat vehicles. They really only stand out against targets who can't fight back, akin to trying to fight tanks with service rifles. Now not to say I don't like mechs. The Mad Cat dor example is well armed, well armored, capable fighting from multiple angles, and can quickly close in on a target for a mech of its size.

I respect and have a reverence for what phil tippet and jon berg did in 1979 (the original animators) but the what you can do with UE and soon with the integration of generative AI for human characters inside UE in my opinion is superior to the old ways. Okay - There's been a lot of great things happening in the world of mainstream animation lately. Especially the blending of CG and live action styles - be it mimicking lower frame rates (12 FPS, or using Key frames and doing movements on 1s, 2s, or 3s). KUDOS and PROPS to the animation of these. It does a really does a nice stop-motion style interpretation of the AT-Ts. It's kinetic, full of character, and I fricking love it. I don't know what sort of pipeline is used - but it's awesome.
