My favorite part of the new trilogy was that they acted like the lightsaber had this weight to it like a real sword would- you can see that in the way they hold it and they way they fight with them. It’s not just this weightless acrobatic thing. And I think I like that because it reminds me that Star Wars really is like a sci fi/knighthood au crossover with the Jedi being literal knights.
@yigitkyc19033 жыл бұрын
Yeah it looks pretty nice, the visuals are great and you can really feel the heaviness and power in his attacks... Except you're not supposed to. Now before I go all out with my toxic nerd bs I wanna admit that this looks better than over-choreographed prequel fights and that there's nothing wrong about liking them. The thing is, it's supposed to be stupid fast and unrealistic. A lightsaber duel involving Jedi, Sith, or any powerful force wielder is supposed to look like the fights we have in the prequels. Jedi knights aren't regular knights. They're essentially superhuman. They foresee the opponents' attacks and moves and they try to counter them before they actually happen. That's why they can also see that their opponent would easily block or evade any fatal blow, which is why they always try to wear each other down with fast attacks on each other's lightsabers. Speaking of lightsabers, they're not supposed to weigh anything. Kylo uses a crossguard-style lightsaber, which is why he looks just like a medieval knight while fighting. That looks really cool, but it's also proof that disney doesn't really understand lightsabers. Along with the fact that Finn survived that blow, which was supposed to cut him in half like sashimi, and how we can still recognize kylo when we see his face after that cool villain scar rey gave him.
@isabellarose24633 жыл бұрын
@@yigitkyc1903 George Lucas did model the Jedi order after Knights, be it Templars or Samurai. If they weren’t an order of knights, he wouldn’t have called them an order of knights. And the cross-guard on Kylo’s lightsaber isn’t for aesthetics. It’s a vent to release excess energy from the cracked kyber crystal in his lightsaber so that it doesn’t explode in his hand when he ignites it. I get that the prequels etc are supposed to be super fast and acrobatic but the training that they received at the temple is way different from the training anyone in the sequels received. And their familiarity with the force is deeper. I could even argue Luke’s training wasn’t the same as the other Jedi, even if he was trained by Yoda and Ben Kenobi, because he took the fast course and he began training as an adult. It makes sense everyone after that had slightly different technique and therefore different fighting style.
@JamesBond-bv5lz3 жыл бұрын
Except... real swords don’t weigh that much to be honest... and also the blade of a lightsaber is weightless, that’s why it takes the force to wield it so you know where the blade is and don’t accidentally cut yourself (I’m a HEMA practitioner)
@JamesBond-bv5lz3 жыл бұрын
However yiu are right about like not fighting the same as the “Jedi”. Luke did not receive fighting training since he was a toddler (like the Jedi did). And Lucas wanted it that way too and I appreciate that. But I feel the sequels Left a lot to be desired when it comes to lightsaber fights. And Disney really did show they didn’t understand the Star Wars universe or it’s concepts / world building basics
@isabellarose24633 жыл бұрын
@@JamesBond-bv5lzl’ve held and worked with swords before so I know what they feel like. One could argue the weight is kind of relative. Like they’re not super heavy, but they’re not light either. Also, a note to the collective: this comment thread isn’t for people who didn’t like the sequels. I just wanted to share one point about the combat that I liked and why I liked it. Personally, I get tired of listening to people hate on Disney Star Wars, when I didn’t ask. I wish fanatics would let people enjoy things without ruining it by gatekeeping.

I don't know if you heard this story or not...but apparently Adam Driver is a "Method" actor. Which means he doesn't get out of "character mode" when the director yells cut. During the filming of TLJ & TROS he seemed so deeply depressed or angry between scenes that John Boyega decided to do something about it. When Driver walked off of a set after director yelled "cut" John (Finn) Boyega gave Driver a bone crushing hug. (he mentioned it during an interview). Anyway...didn't work apparently, because Driver just grunted and walked off the set. I thought it was a cute story!

Daisy is the captain of letting the fans know how big Adam driver is. It seems that in all the interviews she needs to remind and point at the fact that Adam driver is BIG. Which makes me wonder how massive (that is another words daisy likes to use for Adam) he truly is. He isn’t just tall but he is very very solid looking. He dense in muscle mass and very broad in bone structure. Daisy isn’t that small. She is 5’7 which is not that bad actually kind of tall for a girl. But Adam must be 6’2 or 6’3 so yeah that is quite the tall tree there. But he is so masculine body wise, has a rough beauty and very daddy energy to him. But he also has the most beautiful expressive eyes, and goofy smile and in the force awaken is like impossible to hate him, you just want to squeeze him and pepper him with kisses. 🥰 The interrogation scene When he is whining to the supreme leader. When Hux calls him out on his mistake. When he kills Han When he sees Rey grabbing the saber And when he told her you need a teacher. He is so cute.

Better Seq Trilogy: Rey gets set up as the Hero, then dies horribly in her first fight with Kylo. Surprise, Kylo Ren is the Main Character, and it's a three movie story of how this Skywalker/Solo is being torn between the Light and Dark. The Ghosts of his Past and Ancestors haunting him to pull him either way. On one side, Anakin manifesting to try and pull Ben back up to the Light. On the other side, Sheev using Darth Vader's Voice as a lure to pull Kylo Ren back down to the Dark Side. The Trilogy ends with Ben (his lightsaber now healed into a White Pulsing Blade rather than Crackling Red) finding Palpatine, who attempts to use Ben for the same purpose Rey would have served, however with the power of Luke, Leia and Anakin behind him in the Light Side of The Force he is able to resist the Dark Side's Pull and as well bring the Knights of Ren (or at least two in the second movie, we'll call them Tenza and Krass) back to the Light. Tenza takes the fall, striking Palpatine down so Ben wouldn't have to. Before Palpatine's ritual completes however, Tenza is struck down by Ben and Krass so he wouldn't suffer as he was an incapable vessel for Palpatine's ritual.

The problem with the cross guard saber is it is HARD AS FUCK to train with. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve clipped myself with the cross guards. With a saber like that, the weight is off kilter so you will have a harder time balancing it like a normal saber. Props to Adam for learning how to wield that thing. It’s hard as fuck.

It's not just about being physically big. Adam Driver plays big. As Kylo Ren he carries himself as if he were 6'8 and the way he acts and fights makes him appear larger, especially to someone who is smaller than him

I feel like people are too harsh on these newer movies in the series, I’m well aware of some things that could of been better but like, Star Wars fans are picky af and complain about it all and then when something new comes out the thing they just previously complained about is now perfect, make up your minds
@pandora83873 жыл бұрын
yes, it is true. The reason why Daisy and Kelly deleted social media was the toxic star wars fans which bullied them for no reason. Another thing, actor playing Jar Jar Bins which contepleted suicide because of these „fans” who decided to bully an actor because they didn’t like the character.
