Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band" is a song recorded by Meco, taken from the album Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk. It hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 1, 1977, holding on to the spot for two weeks and peaked at no. 7 on the UK Singles Chart, remaining in the charts for nine weeks. The single was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, having sold a million units.
"Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band" is one of two songs which became hits featuring music from the Star Wars movie. The other is "Star Wars (Main Title)," which is original music from the movie soundtrack by John Williams. The song reached the Top 10 concurrently with Meco's more popular version. Meco again jousted with Williams a few months later, with both artists issuing competing versions of music from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, both reaching the US and Canadian Top 40, but with Williams' version being more successful than Meco's.

Not creating a piano, but rediscovering one. This, summed up in a single phrase, was the concept behind the development of the AvantGrand. Making a so-called "acoustic" piano requires extensive technique and know-how, qualities accumulated through our many years of experience. However, a major theme in the creation of the AvantGrand involved consciously refraining from relying on this experience. Rather than designing from a standpoint of what a piano must be, we gave priority to looking at what it could be, searching for the kind of instrument that would suggest a new direction for the piano.

Ms. Huppman. I would like to hear you do the comparison with a KAWAI CA 98 or KAWAI NOVUS. I am certain they would supply you with one. Try it, both as to feel, response and sound. KAWAI uses a unique rendering method and the voicing on the CA98 In piano mode is incomparable. Please try it. Thank you.

Ms.Huppmann, if you want to feel and hear something truly awesome in a hybrid, please try the KAWAI CA98 and/or the KAWAI NOVUS. They bury the Yamaha. I am an owner of a CA98 and researched and played many many. I cannot fit a grand in my home. I follow you and am extremely interested in your reaction after playing the KAWAI. [e-mail].

I think a 'simulation' is just that, and no more. As your performance indicates masterfully, there is a place for this Yamaha instrument in music, but also there is a place for the Boesendorfer. I really enjoyed this demonstration!

As it goes with the new Yamaha electronic piano, I can truly appreciate this marvel of modern engineering. But only a concert pianist can tell any real difference to a wooden hand-made Imperial Bösendorfer. No doubt it sounds excellent and provides a colorful harmonious and vibrant sound. Since you asked us to write our comments, the new YAMAHA N3X sounds great and is surprising for its ability to reproduce the sound of a Bosendorfer Imperial piano, especially when it is played by a great pianist like you. However, to be honest, I prefer the deep sound and harmonic power of a real Bosendorfer Imperial. As you mention in your liner notes on Instagram, the goal is not to create a piano, but to rediscover one. The N3X succeeds in achieving this goal. I understand your enthousiasm about this new instrument. I hope that my comment somewhat corresponds to what you expect to read after questioning us, your listeners, about the N3X. Dearest Anastasia, Your performance of this piece on this instrument seemed to have been flawless. The digital aspects of the instrument lend themselves to the original composition very well. As to comparing a Bosendorfer Imperial to the Yamaha, there is a pronounced lack of resonance by not having the strings resound off the soundboard. It (the Yahama) is an excellent instrument for this application. Also, I am cordially inviting you to my funeral. You look good in black. My affections, Morton Dark

Very well played, and as a Star Wars fan, particularly of the scores, I go back a long way with this tune. I'm sure it was marked Presto, and I remember it being pretty fast in the movie also, but I think it would have been a fun, dance-able ragtime at a little slower tempo. The Yamaha digital piano sounded really good to me, particularly if it was mic'd from the speakers the way acoustic pianos are mic'd from the soundboard. Lower price-point digital pianos don't record well that way, but this appeared to have studio quality speakers. Usually we record a digital piano directly from the stereo line outs, and I wonder if we would have heard more of the reproduction of the famous Bösendorfer Imperial bass end had it been recorded that way here. I'll admit that for the right price-point, it might make a nice addition to my collection, especially for filming. How did you enjoy playing it? What were your impressions?
