I couldn't agree more. I love the Cathar and their unique relationship with the Force, both light and dark. I can see them as the perfect grey Jedi - strengthened by emotion but tempered by wisdom.

You did an amazing job talking about Sylvar, very emotional. It made me cry and that's saying something emotional stories don't effect me that much. It was that moving. Makes you relate to her, see the hardships one faces during war and after where coping is the most difficult but with the strength of others close to you, it's most certain.

Sir I was in the middle of a message to you about an hour ago when Windows 10 hijacked my computer for about an hour. Now, lets see, what was i saying. I watched this video earlier today, then I watched it again about an hour and a half ago with my son. Very, very well done, sir, in fact really great stuff. Rather like yourself, I think, I find my general outlook to be rather on the "gray" side. I'm not a pessimist, but I do find room for other points of view. In this regard, I find my "tastes", so to speak, in my recreation to be broad. I did enjoy this video, and my son did also. Thank-you for your effort, and I am thankful for your talent and skill. Dante.

Beautiful man, it sucked me in until the very end. Kathar Jedi are a very interesting breed for sure. Its funny that you also mentioned Juhani in this video, because I started a new game in KOTOR about a day ago and was only last night playing through the level on Dantioone where she is ultimately redeemed by Revan.
@GreyJedi918 жыл бұрын
+Max Acree Juhani and Sylvar are two of my favorite Jedi from that era! If you haven't seen it already, my Top 4 Underrated Jedi video begins with a tribute to Juhani. I thought you'd like this video after you told me about your primary areas of interest in the EU a few days ago :)
@macree018 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt! Yea I've seen your underrated Jedi video , and really loved the tributes to Juhani and Aryn Leneer in particular on that one. You are also absolutely right, this era in particular highlights a section of Star Wars history that is particularly close to my heart because it was my first introduction into the lore (being the Great Sith Wars waged by Exar Kun and Ulic.) The redemption story arc with Ulic though, is really the one that affects me the most emotionally. Ulic coming to terms with his past and trying to live with himself is one of the most human stories portrayed in the mythos, at least to me. I always really loved how the duel between Sylvar and Ulic was portrayed and how he was able to help her let go of her past and look forward to the future. I think it was an interesting element of Ulic's character that he retained a reasonable amount of skill in dueling even without the call of the force. It just shows that the level of natural swordmanship vs augmentation of swordsmanship through the force varies greatly with each person.

Design wise, I really like Sylvar's older, more animalistic design; it gives her a unique look in the Star Wars mythos. The newer, more human design just seems to be overly sexualized for the audience, like TOR Satele Shan as mentioned in Jensaarai's The Grandmasters Versus Short.

@GreyJedi918 жыл бұрын
+Darth Collatus "I always like to have a connection to everything else in the Star Wars universe, but starting with the character itself at 4:36?" It's no different than what I did in my Ronhar Kim video. I always assume that the viewer doesn't know what's going on in the source material so I set the stage by telling the story. You simply can't understand Sylvar's story unless you already know what happened during the Great Sith War. Just wanted to point out why I do this because it's something I am aware may be questionable...but not something I'm likely to change.
@darthcollatus65788 жыл бұрын
GreyJedi91 I didn't mean it in a negative sense, I just jumped into this video being curious who Sylvar is. I'm currently only beginning to expeirience the EU(especially old republic era) and am already a fan. I really appreciate your work!

@GreyJedi918 жыл бұрын
+Tekki 7^3 Pick yourself up a copy of Star Wars Omnibus Tales of the Jedi Volume 2. She's referenced in various encyclopedias and role playing guides that talk about her legacy, but her actual story is contained in the Tales of the Jedi comics which detailed the training of Nomi Sunrider, the fall of Ulic Qel-Droma and the rise of Exar Kun who started the Great Sith War. While there are a few issues about Nomi and of course the earlier Sith Lords like Naga Sadow that you won't get in that collection, everything else you need will be there.
