U should mark the part of the added short story "ylesia" with an extra timestamp or so. If u don't know, it becomes confusing as f to figure out, why all the sudden u get another vong war story. It's like the author just decided "fuck it, i liked that war better, so i keep on there." - totally out of the blue.

I was completely confused why this story took a sudden right turn to flash back to the yuuzhan vong war, and was waiting for it to connect to the rest of the story. Your comment explained everything. Thank you.

So, I take it that Dark Nest 1 ends at the 8:14:10 mark? Could you please confirm? Because after this, Onimi and Shimra show up, and that just doesn't make any sense.

Though i like the story so far, denning's damn slow pace writing makes it quite a struggle to really enjoy it. 4 example (spoiler) the entire scene of jaina's n zekk's lowie rescue attempt took so long only to fail from one second to the next without any indication. I thought "he's gotta b kidding me, what a f'ing waste of time". This whole scene served no purpose n acomplished absolutely nothing. I allways thought that stackpole n allston endulge to much in spacebattle details, but usually those times they at least r what the story is about. Denning on the other hand is like a methbrain losing himself in'em like they r the most important thing, while the story he tries to tell has to wait on hold or is happening elsewhere. However, i'll manage. I waited to long for this arc.

I can’t listen to denning . Just slowly describing stuff for no reason
@phorz85 Жыл бұрын
@@bigbird2240 yeah, his work really demands some comitment. Still i think this trilogy is pretty important to know n changes dramaticly how well the legacy series can b enjoyed. On its own that is apretty 2edged sword cuz no matter the stuff of the various writers is done, there is allways the elephant in the room that it all seems to make no sense n borderline retcon some core characters if we only know them to b like they are at the njo's end. Specially jacen's corruption seems pretty out of nowhere, but with his story of the 2nd dark nest book it actually works very well n it only leaves the added stuff about vergere as stuff that seems shoehorned but now that becomes unnecessary 2 explain his fall in favor of a relatable n fitting chain of events. It was a way worse issue when it was part of the explaination n couldn't left out if u wanted no gap instead. Now i can use the fact that all the stuff about vergere is just claimed to have happened by lumiya n could just as well b lies 2 help manipulate him further while he still has the actual described stuff leading him 2 the dark side. The general reformed view of the force in terms of how it effected the orders actions were also neither a subject in njo nor legacy,but r an important aspect in his fall,too. Also it makes it a lot better acceptable how alima evolved. The only real Problemem that remains 4 me in legacy's character evolution is tahiri. She was done dirty, not just a lil' devolved but in a way that i can't imagine to b explainable in the 3rd dark nest. She was one with some of the most drastic character growth of her generation of jedi, but they made her into a stupid teenygirl that falls for jacen's corruption through ways that shouldn't have worked cuz she already came to terms with anakin's death too much 4 his trickery to have that much appeal. Also she matured way further from the whole ordeal to merge her two personalities. What i'm most curious is if we get the rehibilitation of jaina n zeck's hivemind. They both r presented so far gone (also compaired to the rest of their group) that this needs to b issued. Legacy didn't but it also didn't gave them remaining effects of any significance so if that doesn't happen it would b as weird as a fully hooked heroin junky turning into a long year abstinent n cured person with nothing left of it but a weak distant memory of addiction. The last part really can make or break this series to the extreme. Storywise 1 was good the 2nd meh but the 3rd has big stuff build up plus these few things that all can b such essential pieces or form such unmistakeble holes in the bigger picture. If it doesn't disapoints on that front, i can tollerate dennings sllomo writing,i guess. After all i rather put up with that as long the created idea is good, over a rethoricle genious with perfection level in writing technique who totally lacks vision n does either totally lame stuff or absolute garbage without any sense n purpose in the greater timeline. We'll see, but so far i'm still more glad to finally close this gap in my eu experience ;) than not, he's not the worst sw writer. He at least won't a leia who recieves a red saber from luke without any mentioned negative thoughts, b4 she made peace with her heiritage. N instead of a ptsd flashback she has a heartfelt greatfulness n is all joy n pancakes.. The guy behind that fabulous idea wasn't even technically a champ. His writing at times became even a worse crawl then dennings but ideas like that r the kind of "wtf" errors that a sw writer simply shouldn't even remotely make if he knows the character he writes about well enough. For a genuine sw fan who is familliar with the eu lore n about how long it took until she even allowed to entertain the idea of vader as anything than the monter that tortured her n han n killed hundrets of her rebels n ordered 1000s more to b killed - she was not evn starting to overcome her trauma during the corellia trilogy.A red lightsaber from the only person that shares the same demon should've been the nastyiest present imaginable, from her point of view, no way a personality like her wouldn't have snapped at luke or perhaps would have been overwhealmed so badly that he realized how wrong that choice was. It is absurd to have this go well. Imagine the stress of an author's stuff if it is lame ideas in a crawl n during any idea that tries a bit more wild shit u have to fear dumbfuckery like that.

@@bigbird2240 oh caution, that will b a ramblus maximus too. There is quite a thoughtprovoking thing to this series, it seems. It was supposed to b a quick re - reaction only but well... ;) yeah,couldn't help it. That series was quite a blindspot 4 me n with all the callbacks it got in legacy,i've allways hat the suspicion that it is pretty essential. Now aftef knowing 2 of 3 parts i see that was indeed the case. And still, i was surprized by how importrant it is for understanding jaicens road above all else. I know that this was a big part of the overall legacy critique n i think that a lot ppl who share that view also missed out on dark nest. To me that fall n his totally unquestioning willingness to accept all of lumiyas manipulation didn't made any sense n now that is totally obvious n works dandily only from one key scene (his hapes visit in 2) n i allways liked the idea for the stuff that came of that. It made legacy a weird series that i had a hard time deciding how to feel about it. I think it was the kind of radical new direction that was the only way to keep this continuity from getting stale whithout to write off n replace most main eu roles n if that would've happened while we get the next series in the same structure of good n evil, spread over 9 books that could've been a combination able to kill my interest in sw right then,cuz it would have kept up a pattern which wouldn't b up shakeble if the new characters just were introduced n needed to win fanbases like the old ones in that way they were inserted,b4 a fundamental change of them is even doable that also'd need room to happen in believable fashion. The dark nest crisis really is worth it, even if only for it's "bug fix" to patch up legacy as it does, tho' i wouldn't concider the story of that trilogy as bad as that i can't enjoy it beyond that n for it's own sake. It still is a nice idea n as a trilogy has the optimal length. I wouldn't say it shold b uppaced n thereby reduced in length but rather done with better decisions how the length gets used for what. Perhaps getting rid of wasted space by compacting some fights a bit but doing an aditional element that gives more insight about alimas evolution. Lomi n welk allways were throwaways but of the lesser important suport cast alima still had a more established role than it reflects to treat her on the same level like those two. Even if she has nmore active time, we get also not a bit of how she did became that way, exept by 3rd party statements, nothing that narrates the process directly while it happens n neither parts from her pov. That's a real miss, which also makes it really a problem if so much room is given for filler like the r2 subplot or the ewok n his solustan captain. These would automaticly seem less disruptive if more parts of real relevance r there in between. Otherwise u have no żgaps for filler. It can't work as soon various filler elements follow each other.
